I should have put this back on my list months ago 5 months ago

since the shoes I got didn’t help as much as I was hoping. But it’s back on now, and tomorrow I’m going to get some New Balances that have been recommended. I have two styles to choose from, 926 and 845 (miraculously) they both seemed to fit well when I looked at them on Monday. I think I’m going to just get one pair now (at over $100 a pair, one pair at a time is enough – especially when I’m going on vacation).

I have also had another brand recommended, Brooks Ariels. They aren’t sold in my immediate area, so I may try to look for them in Seattle and/or Ketchikan, and see what I think. They’re running shoes, rather than walking shoes, so I’m not quite sure about the difference and how they’ll work for me. My brother got the men’s equivalent in them, so I’m anxious to hear what he thinks.

Did I mention I hate trying on/buying shoes?

I'm not sure that I've done this to the quality it needs to be done 17 months ago

but I do have a new pair of sneakers. I’ll give them a chance to get broken in, and then see how my feet feel before I give them their final grade.

I took the back the shoes I had ordered on line (to the local store) and tried on some that they had in stock. They were buy one pair/get one pair half price, so I found two pairs that seemed like they might fit and brought them home. (I was too tired and my feet were hurting too bad to really tell.) When I tried them on at home the next day, one pair was too long and one pair was too tight. So…I went back to the store to return the one pair and get the second pair in a half size smaller. What a mess – this is why I HATE shopping for shoes.

One good thing about it, in all the exchange, I ended up only paying $10 for my new pair. I tried to tell the sales person, more than once, that it wasn’t right, but she had been messing with the return for at least 15 minutes, and didn’t feel inclined to make the register change it’s mind – so who was I to argue. I took my shoes and came home!

I ended up getting the same kind as I had before – New Balance. I tried some other brands but they just didn’t fit well at all. I’ll keep on the lookout when I’m somewhere (Topeka or KC) that might have a better selection.

I (finally) ordered a pair of shoes (Nikes), but they are a little too tight. They don’t come in a 1/2 size larger, so I’ll send them back and try a pair of New Balance.

    FINALLY 21 months ago

went to the specialized shoe store for people with problem feet. I’m so glad I finally did- I was able to get 2 pair of shoes as well as the sneakers I needed. Not old lady orthopedic shoes, but relatively style worthy shoes that I can wear to work and about town. And no pain!

HAH! Somehow, when I wasn’t looking, this goal managed to make it to my “I give up” list. Unfortunately, it needs to be back on the active list, though I’m changing the name from “buy new tennis shoes”, so that it’s more in tune with where my focus needs to be.

Another item I've been putting off 22 months ago

for who knows how long. Of course it has been a convenient excuse for not exercising….

I will have new sneakers by Sunday!

I really need to get up to the special shoe store 23 months ago

for pathetic feet. I had orthotics made for my bad foot and they seem to help, but the sneakers I’m currently wearing are just not very good. What I really need to do is have the surgery and get this d#@ bone spur removed. The orthotic is just delaying the inevitable.

I don't really *want* to do this 1 year ago

since I HATE trying on shoes (it’s very hard for me to find shoes that fit), plus, it’s $100 (more or less) that I need to come up with that I don’t really have (being as I just paid for new brake pads on my car and I still need to get new tires). However, I need to do it, as my current tennis shoes are way past their prime and are most probably causing my feet to hurt even more than they normally do. :-(
