How to go fishing

 "when you find a beautiful fishing spot, you dont ever want to leave"
How I did it: My boyfriend discovered I liked to fish. I had never used a reel before, but he bought me a pink rod&reel and we set out to find some fishing spots. He grew up on a lake so we started there, off shore and off a boat. both ways has their ups&downs but i think i prefer being on shore (as long as its not a shallow rocky bank). being on a boat usually involves a few people and i get nervous and dont feel relaxed. our friend showed us a place called pony creek in glenwood iowa and i am in l.o.v.e! this quiet, peaceful, beautiful place has nice people and pretty good selection of fish & wild life. otters and deer and eagles and herons are seen every time we go. this is the way fishing should be!
Lessons & tips: find a place you are comfortable fishing! get a nice pole and reel and practice casting! even if you dont have a reel, cane fishing is great too! do it with friends, enjoy a beer or two and hang out. its so much fun! Resources: i have a pink lady pflueger, ryan has a big bag of worms and all sorts of things, but sometimes we use a bobber and minows and thats pretty fun |

When I was growing up – I was such a tomboy and loved to fish with my dad, grandfather, and uncle. Even after I left home – I did a little fishing. I think the last time I really went fising was before I got married so that’s been over 26 years. My husband and I took our two oldest out once when they were young but I didn’t fish. All we caught was mosiqutes. LOL.
So yesterday while we were out, my husband bought us a set of fishing poles. Now to see if we can find the other equipment.

EDIT// we’ve been fishing a TON already, i am practically a master now (ha ha ha totally kidding) but i did catch a prize-winning black crappie and everyone was amazed, but then we ate it haha
my boyfriend and i go to a lot of parks and lakes and rivers and he always talks about fishing, but we havnt done it together yet! i didnt fish once last year (even after planning on it dozens of times) so this year i will do it at least once!

I really don’t know how to say that in English, even though it’s my first language. I want to go fishing and… shellfishing? Or do I have to get specific and say crabbing, clamming, etc.?
Anyway, I’m supposed to go camping this weekend on a beach about two hours north of here. But no definite plans have been laid, and my friends are Chilean, so I made the boyfriend promise that if we didn’t go camping, we would go fishing. He knows what he’s doing, so I’m pretty excited. I’ll be sure to post the results.
