A vocalist asked me about doing a Christmas show. Short notice, but sounds interesting. Also, more and more musicians add me on FB. Somethings coming together. Played drums a few days ago for the first time in months. Felt great.

Music is sooo important to me. I have been to 2 jams in the past month and had a really great time and got some really positive feedback. Yesterday, I worked in my basement (drums) for about an hour. That was critical. I’ve been in contact with a band. Things look very positive. I may have a chance to play with them this coming Saturday (my birthday)! A singer I worked with looked me up and I’m thinking about asking him to go to the Tuesday jam with me. Jeff and Doc also. I love music.
Greg introduced me to MarkMixx at his backyard birthsday bash. Called him after about possible bands that need a sub. It’s a start. I’ve decided to spend more time practicing so that I’ll be ready when the opportunity presents itself. I may even make the opportunity!
AAAArgh! Why is this soooo difficult? My new band fell apart. I tried to get my old band together. Things were looking promising. My guitarist gave me some bad news about his life (again). I gave up. I need music in my life sooo bad! I’ve even talked about it with my children. I was teaching them for a while, but stopped because they didn’t like learning from me. We discussed the idea of me starting a music school. That seemed exciting. I don’t know. Use it or lose it, you know?
Band thing coming along. We’ve got 8 songs that we’re learning. 3 sound decent. Hard to find keyboards and good, strong vocalists who know how to work a crowd though.
Ok, I have a guitarist, bassist, and a male and female vocalist. All we need is a keyboard player. So far, everyone is excited to come together and share ideas and songs. We’re happy.
A former bandmate called with interesting news about a chance to make some good money with some original gospel tunes. That hasn’t actually panned out yet though. I’ve met with some musicians from Craigs. They seem to be cool. They are excited. I’ve never led a band before, so I need to invest in some pa equipment.
I was playing quite often for about 2-3 years. Then, I lost my gigs within about 3 months. I haven’t played like that for about a year and a half.
Joe Mayer is unemployed again. :-(
I wrote to about a dozen different musicians in the D/FW area who had advertised for bass players on Craigslist in the month or so before I moved here. I got responses back from about four of them, saying that I should get in touch when I got down here. Unfortunately, I’ve been so busy trying to find work and just getting my bearings straight and such that I’ve only been in contact with one of them, and that was actually because he sent me a message asking if I’d made it yet.
So, I really need to get back in touch with people, and then I need to get my act together and get myself playing again and start looking for some folks to play with. It’s prime area for it, so the only thing keeping me from it is my own laziness…
