I have learnt the two Giltrap tracks – a bit anyways.
Now I need to keep improving
I started teaching myself how to play acoustic guitar back in April of ‘07. I know quite a bit now just off of using the internet. You tube is great for video lessons and if you cannot read sheet music like myself, Ultimate-Guitar.com is a great site for Tabs (Tablatures). I have learned a lot of the commonly used chords and just recently made it though my first solo. I actually know how to play a lot of songs. However now I am interested in learning the mechanics of song building and guitar theory. I would also really like to learn to finger pick. Bottom line is, I think it is time to go to school.
I’ve been playing the guitar since I was twelve years old and, despite the several musical incarnations I’ve gone through which should have affected my ability to play, every time I pick up my piece-of-shit, distinctly out of tune Silvertone, I feel the same way I did the first time: awkward, bony-fingered, trying to play a Nirvana song (of all things) with my clumsy hands. Of course, I’ve improved a little. I know what the chords are called now, I know how they’re shaped, and I know which ones sound good together and which ones sound like shit, but there’s nothing creative in any of that. If I want to be any kind of musician, I either have to step it up guitar-wise, or find someone with my exact musical taste who can play the damn thing.
I got a new guitar! and it’s so beautiful, great sound, and I didn’t have to pay a cent for it!
Ive finally mastered all the basics now my next step is just to start creating my own music and get my voice intune =D
I’m trying to learn how to play Sister by Dave Matthews. It’s definately the hardest thing I’ve ever tried to play. Anyone heard of it?
