I’ve seen the Beastie Boys several times over the past 12 years or so. I hate to say it, but ever since they got older & spiritual (which I respect, truly) and decided to stop swearing in their music, I think their shows are not as exciting as they used to be. I have not seen them since the Hello Nasty tour and I have not yet heard the entire To the 5 Burroughs album (I did like the songs I heard on the radio when it was released, intended to buy it, then kinda forgot), so I am not sure if they are still sticking to a strictly clean language policy, but I can say that it really changed the tone of a lot of the classic old songs when they modified them for the Hello Nasty tour (it doesn’t bother me that the new rhymes were written without bad language, just the censoring of the old ones). Much like seeing Prince before and after he decided to stop performing his dirty songs, it hurts to know what you’re missing…
I still love the Beasties and Prince, though!
