Tougher makes weaker 1 year ago

Since about 4 years, there has been a trend in The Netherlands of people saying that everybody has the right to express himself and that it’s not important if it would be discriminating towards others or not. With this view came the farreaching political sentiment that the settled political parties and politicians are too mild and that the politics (foremost when it comes to foreigners and people seeking asylum) ought to be tougher.
Not only are people disgruntled when it comes to politics concerning foreigners. These people find the dutch politics too mild in general. The old consensus-politics, for which Holland came to be famous and widely respected, are suddenly seen as weak and incompetent.
The recently held elections showed that there’s a polarisation in the dutch electorate. We have had 3 coalitions within 4 years. Futhermore, the formation of a new coalition was very troubling….... Makes you question the “inaptness” of the old consensus, doesn’t it?
