parking lot princess 4 months ago

Even though she will probably never see this, I would like to compliment a wonderful Lady that I nicknamed “Parking Lot Princess” (she doesn’t know that is her nickname that I have for her). If you are ever at UK hospital parking in Lexington,ky, you might just be lucky enough to meet her.
She has been through so much in the last year, a nephew dying of cancer and her own child dying of SIDS, but yet she comes to work everyday, and greets people with a smile on her face and looks beautiful doing it. Plus she is a soldier and a Iraq war Veteran and I just have enormous respect for her. Nicole, you are great!!!!

If I look for things to compliment in others, maybe I’ll better appreciate the things they do.

    Nice shirt 4 years ago

Told a lady in front of me in line at Red Lobster that I liked her shirt. It was black with pink trim around the collar and sleeves. Little stitched high heels and purses in pink and green dotted the fabric. It wasn’t something I’d wear, but it was cute on her. She said that she couldn’t wear high heels any more, so this was the closest she could get. She said she received a lot of compliments on the shirt. Good for her!

The princess in the parking lot 4 years ago

This woman looked so amazing crossing a parking lot behind main street in Ventura. My mom and I asked her if we could take her picture and she said, “Oh, I don’t have my crown.” We were relieved to hear that it was probably a costume and not a bride’s maid’s dress!

Eric Bogle & John Munro 4 years ago

Well, this was an easy one. I went to see these Scots/Aussie folk singers in concert last Saturday. I complemented John on his amazing harmonies and Eric on the depth of the song “And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda,” which he wrote in the seventies, but which still resonates deeply. He said during the concert that he has great fondness for the song because of all the doors it opened for him. So nice to hear that he doesn’t resent that we all want to hear it when we come to see him play. It’s about the ANZACs at Galipoli, so you can imagine it’s a heartbreaker.

Some one did it for me 4 years ago

This morning while I was standing in front of the pastry counter at the coffee house downstairs from where I work, staring at the bagels, a guy complemented me. He said, “That’s a cool outfit.” How sweet! I was so dumbfounded I’m not sure I actually thanked him. (The counter guy was making chit-chat about my commute.) It made me feel great, because I put this together this morning because I just wanted to be comfortable. I even thought about just pretending I looked good when I went into the almost deserted coffee house, and then this guy liked it enough to say something.

I want to pass on that good feeling.
