I just got back from tour a week ago, and it was definitely worth it. :]
You have to be crazy in shape to do this kind of activity though, and if you aren’t going into it, the staff will work off the weight for you…. 2 years ago

So…I auditioned for Blue Knights that had some openings in the trumpet section…AND MADE IT! I’ll be moving to Denver as soon as I get back from Europe. :D
It will definitely be harder for me since I’m taking an empty spot after they’ve already learned the opener, but I think it’s possible.

completed this goal
How I did it: My marching instructor at my high school was like, "Join! Now! Please?" Lol; so I went and checked it out. My knee blew out, though, so I went and joined the front ensemble. Impulse! Drum and Bugle corps 2008 was awesome. The best summer of my life. Haha. My first season ever of DCI, too. Can it get any better??!!!! Read how I did it… 3 years ago

So I tried out not too long ago, and I didn’t make it.
It’s alright, though. This is my first 6 months or so on the mellophone, so I can’t really expect to jump right into a Division I corps.
Either way, attending the workshops was completely worth it. I feel like I’ve improved a LOT in my playing. I learned a lot of nifty techniques and a different way of approaching music on a brass instrument.
I’m not letting this bring me down—now I’m more determined to march this summer than ever. 4 years ago

So I was kind of tricked into doing Corps…I had no idea that level of marching existed. I am so grateful I was able to march for the years that I did and desperately wish I could march again, but I age out next summer and I have to go to school! I would also like to march WGI again, but same problem…
Anyways, there are so many things I could blab on about that you learn in drum corps, but you won’t understand it until you experience it…and everyone has a different experience, but I’ve never heard of anyone having a bad one. It makes you a better person, it keeps you in shape, and it forces you to have ridiculous stamina. I suggest anyone interested, just do it. You’ll never regret it. Promise. 5 years ago

So about four days ago I picked up the mellophone for the first time. I had decided earlier that I was going to be in a drum corps, but the only problem was that I play clarinet. After finally getting stuff done I found a mello, and took my first lesson last Friday. I so can’t wait. 6 years ago

marching drum corps made me realize aspects of myself I never did before. I can’t describe the sense of community and belief in myself that this expeinec helped me achieve. I also learned work ethic, social skills, and how to handle ANY situation. 6 years ago
