LL is EXCITED! Matty got his visa!!
I could have done without the drunken bit. Especially considering how sore my head was the next day.
My friend ‘Cole came to Darwin from Adelaide, for just a few days. We went out for coffee on Friday night… which somehow managed to evolve into a bit of a pub crawl. Followed by a total waste of the following day, as I alternated lolling on the couch feeling sorry for myself, with retreating to my room for more sleep.
Oddly enough, this was simultaneously my first, and quite possibly last, big night out in Darwin. I was never into the whole pub/club thing when I was younger (not really all that into it now, truth be told).
As a result, my parents hadn’t ever experienced my coming home drunk in the early hours of the morning. My mum was particularly restrained, and only made a few comments. When she asked me, “and what did we learn from this experience?”, my response was, “don’t go out and get drunk when you’re staying with your mother.”
Poor mum. I do love her… but we don’t always agree on things (not so unusual, I guess). I think having lived so far away since the age of eighteen has meant that we keep having to rediscover this fact.
Sadly, when I made said phone call, Matty was busy swimming, so I had to make do with leaving a voicemail message. And sending several text messages. ;-)
