My father’s family was originally from Ireland, and my name was to be Patricia Ann McGinnis. My father told the doctor I must be born before midnight on St. Patrick’s Day, and I made it at 8:10 p.m. I’ve always been very proud of my birthday and feel 100% Irish.
Over the summer, I flew to the East coast for a mission trip. THere, I met an Irish fellow that is now one of my best friends. For 3 weeks, He “trained” me to speak like him. :) I still e-mail him frequently, and occassionally if i really want to hear his accent, I’ll call. Kind of a hassle, cuz from where I live, that’s an 8 hour difference! I love their accent. Actually, about 4 days before he flew back to Ireland and I flew back to the west coast, we were in a park. I had an entire conversation with a woman, me speaking with His accent, and he speaking in my “Californian” accent (Although I don’t have an accent, he claims I do)
irish accents are so beautiful! i can kiiinnddaa do one, but it’s really not convincing.
Step 1 – Find an Irish movie.
Step 2 – Quote it like Anchorman until it sounds right.
Step 3 – Use it to annoy people in conversation.
