... since three years when I went to Madonna di Campiglio in Trentino… than I did only ski normal ski I mean
How to learn to telemark ski
How I did it: I bought a pair of tele skis and went to town. Coming from an alpine background, I had trouble getting my weight onto my uphill ski. It took about 5 days to be comfortable, but not by any means good. I am still learning all the time. Remember to bend that front knee! The best way to learn is by doing. Go rent some equipment and get out on those slopes. Its extremely fun, but dont get caught up in the swagger.
Lessons & tips: Telemaking is a game of balance, its almost all finesse. Learning to tele in the bumps is a lot of fun too, just be prepared to do your best superman impression many times.

so I wont say “I’ve done this”, but I got out last weekend and managed to turn a few lines.
Mostly I fell.
But not always.
I was doing some telemark turns on my skis the other day, and it was really fun. I need to buy some of my own equipment and really get out there.
Well.. I went and bought the military surplus skis…
last pair they had.
Heading up to the mtns in about a week and a half.
This should be fun LOL
I found some military surplus telemark skis…
Skis, poles, bindings, and climbing skins for $20.
In “used excellent” condition.
looks like a good place to start.
I dont want to learn anything fancy. Just how to get from point A to point B.
Im seriously digging on the ScottyBob ski’s, and Im working on a set of homemade bindings similar to Berwin bindings (so I can wear packboots, mukluks, whatever) but made out of wax hardened leather.(I dont want to ruin the beautiful wood veneer retro scandi look with a set of butt ugly plastic bindings)
I love it! Sadly, here in WI. there is no place to do it. Why did I ever move the family back here. I’m such a moron sometimes! Leaving behind WA., ID., MT. OR. for WI.
Anyway….the motion feels great once you’ve got it. When I was at my peak, I could spend the day in the bumps bouncing around on my Tuas (sp??) which I still have. The old skiis (205s) were made to turn. I had a hard time going straight on those skiis…....Love telemarking. Now if I could just figure out a way to get back west again…...
I took a lesson from a professional instructor. Definitely worth the cost.
I went tele skiing yesterday. I’m hooked, I’ll never go back to alpine. My quads started to wear out by the end of the day, but it was a great day. I’m going again this weekend. Free your heel, free your mind.
I’m going to try this next week. I hope we get some more snow before then. I’m going to wear my Speedo.
