How to learn the ukulele by RickRocks1121

How I did it: my wife knew I wanted to learn it since I was a kid and got me one for Christmas (she gave it to me a little early). I think she's regretting that decision now, as I've had trouble putting it down the last few days. I've already learned 3 or so cover songs and am starting to memorize the different chords so I can try to start writing originals on it. It's a long process, and I had a head start knowing how to play guitar already. But I checked it as done since I've got one and learned somewhat how to play it.

Lessons & tips: a back round in playing guitar or bass doesn't hurt. If not, get a book! Granted, the only thing I've used my book for is to find out how to tune the strings and the chord charts in the back, but there's a handful of classic songs in it to learn. Also youtube will help you learn anything!

    Went 2 sis’s house last night and she had a couple of guitars. She also had guitar chords and notes on the floor. If she’s gonna learn it, i sure as hell want 2 learn a 4 string instrument like the uke… and it’s only collecting dust at home now…

    I won’t get good at it, but i wouldn’t mind just learnin’ it so it might relax me when i’m stressed or moody… Its a good way to free your mind, kill sum time… had it 4 free so i might as well make use of it.

    I want to be good at playing the ukulele! 10 months ago

    I bought a ukulele from the internet and it arrived safely last friday. I have been happily strumming at it and trying to learn chords from a book, and from the internet. It is such a cheerful little instrument, it actually sounds happy when you strum it, that I feel like I now have to make an effort and find a proper teacher. I want to be good at it!
    I don’t play any other instruments so it may be a bit of a struggle.

    I’ve been thinking of learning a musical instrument for a few years now and saw someone playing a ukulele on You Tube yesterday and for some reason that appeals to me. It’s small, has four strings, you can strum it… sounds pretty simple to me! We’ll see.
