Funtash is being driven crazy by her mother.
I have a sketch book that has been sitting in the hallway for a couple of weeks now. I have largely ignored it, believing it to be empty. I find starting a new sketchbook to be difficult. Stupid, but true. SO this afternoon I picked it up, ready to put something on those perfect pages. And found I already had. Probably over a year ago. Now the pressure is off. Gotta start doodling again.

One difference of drawing in a sketch book with non removable pages is that unlike loose sheets of paper it forces one to keep EVERYTHING that is drawn. This is turning out to a good thing as it is forcing me to better evaluate past images which I think is benefiting future ones by closing the option of discarding what I am not fully satisfied with. Not to mention giving me a bit more motivation to finish what I start instead of giving up and throwing it out midway through.

I’ve filled lots but I’m constantly working on another. I’d like to fill up the one I have. and I’d even more like to improve my skill.

I’m starting to enjoy drawing more :)
I’m also keeping a sketch blog now, http://paopi.tumblr.com, so I can “force” myself to draw more :P

Cody is making lists.
it’s not that I can’t draw right now..
it’s just that what I’ve been sketching has no soul
it’s so lifeless.

I’m probably about halfway through my sketchbook, but I have a bad habit of ripping out everything I actually like. I also rip out everything I can’t stand seeing. After I’ve removed all the pieces with charcoal or chalk or pastel (I’m neurotic about not smudging anything), and after I’ve removed all the half-pages of watercolor animals, I pretty much have nothing LEFT except warm-up sketches!
There’s actually a reason for this rampant rippin’; I’m taking an AP course right now, and my portfolio is due in a month or somethin’. I’ve been making a big mountain of pieces I like so I have real CHOICE in what to shoot! But still. My sketchbook looks awfully hollow and empty right now!
I also need to do more pencil sketches. I’m an eraser addict, so to combat that, I’ve been using pretty much only markers and watercolors for the last few weeks, but I need to get more pencil sketches up ASAP!

It seems like the first page of a new sketchbook is the most difficult!

i have a sketchbook and some decent drawing pencils, but i don’t think they’re my medium. they’re a little messy and even though i love experimenting with texture, i work best in color. i miss my prismacolors. =/ i’ll get some by the end of next month and blend to my heart’s content. <3
