We all need to take a stand against horrible injustices like this, no matter where they are taking place.

if her appeal to not have to pay blood money does not succeed, she may still need donations to pay the blood money since her family is very poor. Also, of course she can definitely always use your prayers, as well, and there are other women and people who still need out help! If she ends up needing to pay the blood money and needs donations, I will let ya’ll know, but for now I am closing this goal since she has been freed from jail at the moment, and is no longer facing the death penalty. Thanks to everyone who has helped!
I took this from the website:
Jan 31: NAZANIN IS FREE!!!
Nazanin had a very emotional reunion with her family members. She could not believe that this day had arrived. She cried in her mothers arms and took turns embracing her siblings and father.
After she finished greeting her family, Nazanin’s lawyer Mr. Mostafaei said that she told him that she now wants to go to school and study hard to get her life back. Soon after, Mr. Mostafaei got a phone call from some of Nazanin’s inmates saying that they missed her already.
More details to follow.
Now that Nazanin has been spared from a death sentence, they still expect blood money from her. Her lawyers are appealing the blood money, but since this may take several months, they got a bail set for her. It is over $40,000 in U.S. money and her family cannot afford the bail or the blood money. You can donate by going to http://www.helpnazanin.com/ and clicking on the donation link at the top of the page.
You can also add her to your myspace page if you have one (hers is http://www.myspace.com/savenazanin ) or just spread the link around in other ways. Perhaps someone will see it and donate. Also, I still think people should add their signatures if they can to show that even more people care about this case.
Thanks to all who have helped.
sees it on my page should check out the main goal for this to read George’s post. I am so relieved to see that Nazanin is not going to be condemned to die, but I am sorry that she is facing punishment at all. She has suffered enough. However, I am not ungrateful for the fact that she has at least gotten out of execution. I am so relieved and thank George so much for bringing this new development to my attention. I still want to help Nazanin get out of punishment all together.
This whole experience has taught me that we can help. I have also met people who didn’t care and people who did and the ones that did really made my day. I have also gotten some of my fire back…..my fire to help out.
Do you want to know something strange? I still feel this anxiety. You know that nervous feeling you get when you think you are still forgetting somehting important? I’m not sure if understand it. I think it’s because I know there is still so much work left to be done in this world and while we can rejoice at this, we still have to keep working towards a better us and a better world. It’s a good thing, though, that I realize this. We all need to realize that we have to help out because that is how the world will change. Funny thing is, although I still think about suicide, I feel even more selfish than usual when thinking about offing myself now, because when I think about it, I think the world needs people to help out. You need to stay around to help out the people, animals, plants, the planet that is left behind because when I die the world won’t stop. It will go on and it needs us all to not kill ourselves, but to stay alive if we can, so that we can help out.

Jan 14 : FANTASTIC NEWS: NAZANIN EXONERATED BUT…
Nazanin Afshin-Jam and Mina Ahadi spoke with Nazanin Fatehi’s lawyers today regarding her retrial that took place on January 10th 2007.
They have received verbal confirmation from the court that she will be exonerated from the charge of murder. The incident that took place in March 2005 has been recognized as an act of self-defense, however the court has ruled that disproportionate force was used by Nazanin while trying to defend herself and her 15-year old niece. Accordingly, they have asked Nazanin to pay “dieh” (blood money) to receive a pardon from the family of the deceased. Once this amount is paid, Nazanin can be released from prison.
Shadi Sadr and Mr. Mostafaei, Nazanin Fatehi’s laywers, are appealing this blood money because they believe that Nazanin is innocent for acting in self-defense and therefore she should not have to pay any money. Unfortunately, this appeal may take several months, so in the meantime arrangements may be made to have Nazanin released from prison by paying “bail” money into court.
Formal documentation should be available within days, including further details and specifics like the cost of bail and the cost of blood money.
They want to punish and possibly execute an innocent woman for killing one of three men trying to rape her and her niece. Self defense is not a crime. Please sign the petition, repost the link wherever you can, and encourage all you know to sign this.
You can add this goal to your list if you like so that all of those who see your page on 43things will be made aware of the petition to help stop the execution of an innocent woman and strike a blow against rapists.
