Now it ’s time to to get the hard work done. Twelve months of writing and editing, three months of professional editing and review, then the print reviews and finally, sometime in mid to late 2011 I hope to see me work out in the world.

Waiting for the contract … waiting. 2011 will be the year. At least that’s what the publisher says.

The homeschoolers I work with have agreed to pilot test the book.
Now that it’s nearing completion, I’ve got someone to make sure that I’ve done a halfway decent job on it.

I’m past half-way! And the basic structure is covered. Now to flesh in the details.

I can barely believe how much work this is.
On the other hand, it’s kinda fun.

But it has to be done.
So many of the homeschool Latin textbooks have some major flaw or another. I might as well try and produce my own flawed entry.
Luckily the consortium of homeschoolers I work with feel their current Latin text is the best of a bad lot, so they’re game to pilot what I can come up with.
mathnerde is planning some writing...
I have the basic outline and to formatting taken care of. Now I just need to get more time to actually create the content.

....I’m ONLY interested in writing a textbook/nonfiction work…so, it’s a redundant goal.
Hey all,
I’m fed up with the textbooks that I teach my students from here in China so I’ve decided to write my own textbook. I will begin by collating interesting, modern english texts and then create comprehension questions for them.
I don’t know anything about copyright protection (ie the protection afforded to those who have written the interesting modern texts that I want to use) so can anyone tell me what the deal is there? Do I have to write to people and ask for permission to use everything? Even if the textbook will not be sold, only distributed? Even if it will not be published and will be for the use of one institution only?
cheers everyone and good luck!
Nicola
