I’ve been hooked on modern design for years. I keep looking for affordable modern homes at sites like http://www.imodernhome.com, but I’m afraid they are a little out of my price range. Maybe some day.

Concrete, steel, big expansive planes of glass, materials used in interesting ways. There’a bulding on the street behind my house that’s a funky shade of green with steel awnings, but unfortunately I think it’s a commercial warehouse. It definitely reeks of a designers touch, though. I can’t wait to have enough money to buy some land and design, or work with an architect to design and build a modern, interesting house.

vorrei costruire una casa che mi assomigli, che sia armonica, calda, accogliente e piena di colori. Un posto dove appendere i quadri che amo e sistemare i miei vasi di cristallo. Un posto dove giocare con i miei nipoti e cucinare fantastici piatti. Vorrei un grande giardino con una fontana e un piccolo lago con tre carpe Koi, un gazebo di rose antiche. Vorrei una casa che invecchi con me e si trasformi assomigliandomi. La vorrei fatta di legno
Modern and Simple -- too much to ask?

Every day that I drive through my home town of Atlanta, I see new subdivisions being erected with million-dollar mini-mansions with 4-8 bedrooms. These homes are destined to be lived in by families of 3-5 people, all look the same, and all try to look like homes that were built many many years ago.
I want a modern home. I want a home that is only as large as I need. I want a home that is efficient. I want a home that looks like it was built for the modern world. I want a home that is well-designed.
