Have a better 2007 than 2006

A little better but not totally there 18 months ago

I nearly marked this off as done before 31 Dec but changed my mind and wanted to wait until the new year.

The day after I nearly marked this off as done this happened.

Still overall a new job at the end of the year and Dad’s improved since last new year means that the year was better.

New job started 19 months ago

OK so this is my 2nd new job in 2007 but this one is a keeper.

Still some other wobbles to be surfed over (if possible) but on the whole I’m in a better place than I was this time last year.

Still going in the right direction 23 months ago

I’m a little more in control of my destiny (planning changes as we speak) and feel I’m on the home straight. There will be wobbles during the last few months of the year but I hope I can ride them out and they end up being worthwhile.

I'm not expecting 2007 to be the best year ever 2 years ago

But things aren’t too bad at the moment.

The bad stuff from last year is getting better or sorted slowly. Nothing is perfect but compared to 6-8 months ago they are many times better.

Now to keep this momentum going for the rest of the year (not that much is in my control).

2007 is starting well so far 2 years ago

I have a new job starting the day after tomorrow – hope it’s almost as nice as the last one (that’ll be hard to beat).

My brother has just had it confirmed that his paramedic training will start in April.
He is also contracting at the moment to fill in until he starts training and has been offered a new contract on better terms than initially offered and they asked him for a 6 months contract (he can’t do that if his training starts as planned) – he was far better than other candidates. What an ego boost.

My father is sort-of on his feet again (first seen by mum yesterday). He is still paralysed after his stroke but if his arm is in a sling and leg is in a splint (to immobilise the thigh down) he can do a few metres very slowly. 5 months on this is really good progress as we didn’t know whether he’d ever be on his own two feet again without help from someone else.

2006 was one year I'm glad to see over 2 years ago

There were many things I’d like to forget ever happened in 2006:
*There was much pain (mum and hubby both had operations and loads of physio) and anguish (dad’s stroke).
*My brother’s entrance to the ambulance service to be a paramedic was postponed again and again.
*I was made redundant from a job I loved.

Some really good things happened too:
*Our 5th wedding anniversary and a trip on the Orient Express to stay at a palace in Venice for 10 days.
*My parents’ 40th (ruby) wedding anniversary and we then spoiled them to a luxurious stay in a 5 star hotel, everything included inc meals, drinks, a trip to the theatre in a chauffeured car and champagne in the room.
