    Saturday 24th – 350 Day of Action

24th OCtober was the 350 Day of Action global series of events. http://www.350.org/ Claire and I had organised two events for Torbay – and this was certainly the most memorable aspect of my week!

The event at the zoo wasn’t very successful… but the kite-flying on Goodrington green was fantastic!! I borrowed a friends kite, but several people had made their own kites. One woman had used an old carrier bag and broken windscreen wipers to make hers!! Fantastic!!

The kiteflying was great fun, and we also had the Herald Express write about it on Friday and then again on Monday! They had sent a photographer over too, so that was fantastic. I feel close to tears when I look at the thousands of pictures from all over the world from actions that all took place on the same day! It’s beautiful to think so many people in the world were working together all at once. :)

    Wednesday 14thRNLI ducks!

Started out the day by going to Dartmouth. :) We bought 4 RNLI duckies… 2 of which we wrote messages on! We used Bible quotes and personal messages!

We then went out to Dartmouth Castle. We climed around to the rockpool bits by going across the BEAUTIFUL beach! We threw the duckies out as far as possible and they headed down the River Dart! It was all very exciting!!

We then realised that we’d made ourselves stranded because the tide had come in whilst we were out on the rocks!! So we had to climb right up the rocks and jump over the barbed wire fence, into the Castle grounds that you aren’t allwoed in. Oops! We had SUCH a beautiful view of Dartmouth though – truly magical! From there we had to sneak around this mini cliff edge without any one seeing us and then climb up and walk along some wobbly wall of rocks and jump down into the part of the Castle you’re allowed in if you’ve paid!! It was such a fantastic morning!

    Saturday 10thZORBING

Despite it being October, the weather was fab! We took our long drive to Dorset and got to Hollow Hill, where they kindly let us use both our rides one after the other. Zorbing was ACE!! We dived into the zorb ball with warm water, rolled down laughing and loving it!! We hopped back out and the truck took us straight back up the hill to have our second go!!

After the good old zorb sesh, we took a wonder into Dorset. I loved it! I thought it was another really sweet city; it took us a good hour or so to find any form of fast food ~ and it was only Subway! They had a proper town cryer too.

We then went to Warmwell to a holiday resort to do some skiing (but couldn’t) so we hired out a couple bicycles and I relearnt how to do it!! I had an AWFUL bike! But I had a really good time. The best bit was when we ended up in some woods (we deffinitely got lost – I was stook in some mud with a sign next to it saying “Quicksand”!!!) but the woods were great! I felt like one of those hardcore bikers! Best bit was catching up Joe to find his bike on the floor and him doing some sort of rain dance round this tree!! We cycled around for hours because of getting lost ~ I think we went through about three towns?? Then we had to go some of the main road bit ~ which I refused to cycle on so we took forever! :P

After all that adventure we went back to a Wetherspoons in Dorset and had a lovely huge dinner. Fantastic! :)

I’ve just started a course called Growing Leaders which is focused around becoming a good Christian leader, and we had the first 24 hour session at the weekend!!

Saturday 3rd – Sunday 4th – We all had an excellent weekend, staying in a large house in Brixham! :) I actually am already friends with everyone else on the course except one person who I didn’t know directly, so it was great to further build up my relationship with each of these people! There was also a lot of support over the weekend to grow in my relationship with God, so that certainly has made this week memorable! I have now started reading the Bible every day again with mixing and matching things to form a new hopefully successful strategy. :)

Two main things to start off the goal with!! :

    1. Monday 21st – Attended Gobal Wake Up Call in Totnes. A demonstration which was part of thousands of events world wide going on across the globe to wake our world leaders up to climate change!
    1. Sunday 27th – Me and Joe went out on Chris’s boat which was SO cool! We went right the way round to Dartmouth to a tiny little island where I saw three seals up close! I hadn’t ever seen anything like it it was beautiful. :)

    so many... 2 years ago

i think i’m pretty good on this one.

-penn state for the notre dame game…total whiteout, tailgating from 9 am to 6 pm with beer bongs and jello shots to kick it off…getting shitty 3 nights in a row and just not caring
-dave and busters, getting shitty and convincing the bartenders to let us keep our shot glasses
-making friends with random people on 270 when an accident shut it down for 2 hours
-hitting the beach…ocean city. sleeping on the beach from 9am to 1pm, getting crazy tan, then boozing the night up and getting wild
-going to iguana cantina and tearing the dance floor up, brushing off the sketchy guys and just having fun
-hitting up mcdaniel for a party at 12:30 am
-totally sober sheetz runs at 2 am
-having that intense convo with the randomest person when everyone else at the party’s passed out
-going to court by myself…and handling it fine, making friends with the other kids on the “party docket”
-going to ultrabar at 12:30 am…just because we felt like it
-getting kicked out of zodiac for using a fake…and then coming back again the next week
-barhopping across what felt like the WORLD
-jetskiing on the potomac for 2 weeks stright, every day…boozing on the floating raft, swimming in the prob infected water, tubing, wakeboarding…crazy jetski nicknames
-living by the pool, sipping on absolut pear and sprite…going straight from the pool to work, still tipsy…
-quickies with casey before work, totally not being subtle about leaving parties to, uh, have our own party…homewrecking with him, speeding to get back to my place, losing my navel ring
-4 am drunk phone calls, losing my phone, mailing my phone back home, dropping my phone in a screwdriver…
-getting shitty off jungle juice and throwing my phone at nicks head…regretting it later…getting out of the passenger side of the car right before a sobriety checkpoint
-singing loveshack karaoke while tipsy off bud light
-powerhours in andreas apartment, margaritas after the hour…passing out on the carpet
-tiki bar and talking shit with the bouncers until they let me in
-the pink party…recycling boys, the studio 54 soundtrack, the sex bed, chips and salsa at 5 am

yeah i think i got this covered. although i should work on having these memories involve less alcohol.

so far so good 2 years ago

I’m def. accomplishing this. I’ve had an amazing couple of weeks….I really think that at this point, I’ve finally found a group of friends that fit me. There are so many perfect moments….and I’m starting to date a great guy who just makes my life even better.

God, if I ever say that my life sucks, please slap me.

    memories 2 years ago

    I remember…
Going salsa dancing with Steve. At the end of the night, we were sweaty and exhausted, but everyone still watched us.

Driving down 270 south to a party with Jessica for 25 min before we even realized that we were going the wrong way. We showed up 45 min late, but just laughed it off and danced our asses off.

Being baked out of my mind at Ryan’s house. Candy and I went into his bathroom and washed our hands and couldn’t stop laughing about how they still stunk of pot.

Going to parties with Ana where I didn’t know anyone. Whenever anyone would ask who I knew, I’d just make up a name and smile a lot.

Trying on skanky halloween costumes with Rae, taking risque photos and eventually getting kicked out for making too much noise in the store.

Painting my nails with Omar’s glow in the dark nailpolish in the middle of spanish class. We opened the window and prayed that the teacher wouldn’t notice the stink of the polish.

Playing Truth with Ross and Judy, letting go and telling all my secrets.

Sitting outside of work after my shift, passing a bottle of Jack Daniel’s with Danny and Tony. We were chasing it with coke, telling lame jokes and just passing the time.

Flashing John at the campfire. Just for a second. The look on his face was priceless.

Climbing a really tall tree with Jill. I remember some woman coming out and yelling at us. We just laughed at her and ran off.

Walking around the streets with Steve. We were the only ones outside…I sung at the top of my lungs, the cold air made my cheeks pink. It was surreal.

Driving out to Jimmy Cone to meet Mike at 10:30. Jon was in the car with me, and we sped along the highway in the dark, telling lame jokes and laughing so hard. Later, we raced a pimped out tow truck and my tiny little car won. What can I say, I like to drive fast.

Telling my math tutor to “fuck off” when she told me that I was stupid. You just don’t say that to someone.

That the first song playing when I drove home after getting my license was “Maps” by the yeah yeah yeahs. I cranked it up so loud and sang along to the lyrics as loud as I could.

The hot summer nights and the work bbq’s we used to have. We would all get buzzed and laugh about how much we hated work.

Hannah and I dancing in the car to the white stripes, and getting so many stares.

I think the worst thing you can be is boring.

And for a little while, my life was getting boring.
So I decided it was time to take risks and chances…it’s all getting better now.

Your best memories are always the times you broke the rules, times you did something you weren’t supposed to. Being spontaneous makes life so much more enjoyable…I want experiences that I’ll remember even when I’m old, things that will stick with me for life.
