I have been working on a novel for 2 years and I would love for others to have the opportunity to read my work.
How to have my book published
How I did it: In November of 2005, I started writing the Sonshine Girls. I kept at it, praying for God's direction. I tried to self publish and it flopped. I tried publishing as an ebook and was found by my publisher and the rest is history. My book released on December 13, 2008.
Lessons & tips: Since my story isn't typical, I can't really offer much more than keep going and I know that has been repeated by me several times. However, it's true! Keep going! If you find yourself discouraged, take a breather. Trust your editor but also remain true to yourself. Don't allow the edits to rid the work of your own author's voice. Write, finish and put the manuscript to "rest." Seriously let it rest for a month or more. While it's resting, learn all you can and constantly hone your writing skills. Always be willing to learn!
Resources: There are a lot of products and websites out there that I consider writer's help. Also, find yourself a good writers group for encouragement. I belong to the ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers). When your book is published, you'll want to work on your marketing skills. John Kremer's 1001 Ways to Market Your Book is amazing!

I began a series of children’s books at least 10 years ago. It’s good . . . even if I do say so myself. Everyone I’ve shared it with has said the same.
My fear is rejection.
If I send it to a publisher and it is rejected, then what? To me, it is safer to believe it worthy of being published rather than finding it is not.
I wrote a book a couple of years ago. I am just too chicken to send it out to publishers. What if no one likes it and I feel completely reject? Not sure what is worse, the feeling of rejection or the not knowing for teh rest of my life.
