Maybe next semester…

I found one I’m interested in and got permission from my supervisor. Now I just need to really ask myself if I have the energy for this right now. I’d say I’m leaning towards taking the class; there’s about a 60/40 chance.
Classes would start this week, and after some consideration I decided not to pursue this right now. I can always start next semester.
We have lots of free online training I can use during downtime at work (without sacrificing my evenings and weekends to go to class), so I think I will educate myself that way for now. I have been doing this all week and learning a lot.
Also, my first annual performance review is coming up in a few weeks, and I think that would be a good time to talk with my supervisor about how I’m doing, what skills I could improve on, and what additional knowledge is needed in our department. That will make my tuition reimbursement request more likely to be approved when I submit it, and make my new skills more likely to be something I can put immediately to use on the job.
I got caught up in other things with my relationship and my move, and I didn’t notice that fall had arrived and classes would be starting soon… and I never received my course catalog! I called long ago to put my name on the mailing list, but that seems to have slipped through some administrative crack.
But that cheer on this goal got me thinking, and I went online this morning and discovered that classes start next week! Many are already filled, but I’m sure I can find something that interests me. Whew, I almost missed my chance!
This fact had totally bypassed y consciousness and here I was worrying how the heck I ever will manage to find funding for a management related training programme:)
Apparently the amount that’s reimbursed depends on the grade you get in the class! How wonderfully challenging! That’s extra motivation to take class seriously, and get more out of it.
It doesn’t sound like there are limitations on what college I can go to, it just has to be college-level work at any accredited university.
I’m sure I have a flyer about it in a file here somewhere…
That will tell me if there are any restrictions about where I can go, what classes I can take, etc., as well as the logistics of how the reimbursement works.
But it entails a lot of details. I can see why so many people just tell themselves, “next year… next year…” and never do it.
Not me! I won’t be eligible until I’ve been here a year, which is in the fall. Perfect, that’s when school starts! Now, should I take classes at the art school where I always dreamed of going as a teenager (but let myself be talked out of by my oh-so-practical parents)? Or somewhere else? Should I study design? Or digital video? Or interactive multimedia? Or something else?
