New to the city of Austin & have always had a fasination with fire & the dancing hypnoticly with flames. I have studied martial arts for a number of years & hope with some of the things I learned can contibute to learning at a faster pace, but very will to work from the bottom to the top.

AaminahRaks is very easily distracted...mostly by shiny things!
I already belly dance and I love fire so naturally I want to combine the two and learn fire dancing. I did a shamadan (belly dance with a candlabra on my head with a 11 lit candles) and it was quite exhilirating. I’ve met several fire dancers but none of them are in my area. I was originally interested in learning fire poi (I still am) but I really want to add some fire props to my belly dance.
One fire dancer that I met said that it would be easy enough for me to teach myself. I just need to get the props and practice dancing with them unlit and then once Im comfortable with them light ‘em up! =)
The sound of the fire whooshing by your head is such a rush… I highly recommend it.
I haven’t given up. This is still on my list on listsofbests of types of dance I want to learn. I just prob. won’t be working on this anytime soon so I want to free some space for some goals I can work on right now. I will still leave this on my list on listsofbests and hopefully addit back to my main goal list later.
I first saw fire dancers at the Oregon Country Fair. It was so stunning that I couldn’t take my eyes away. I need to fair dance.
My wife runs a business that sells fire toys and books fire performers and as a result I’ve met a ton of really cool people.
There’s an educational page on her site that has links to a ton of instructors all across north america.
There is nothing quite like the sound of balls of fire spinning by your head. It’s tribal, primal, and quite quite powerful.
If you have any questions, just let me know.
this year i intend to BREAK that (it’s been a couple of YEARS since i’ve learned anything new).
learning to firedance changed my life – made me realize an ‘older’ dog could learn some new tricks, made me nice and buff and did wonders for my self-esteem… go for it!
It’s a massive adrenaline rush and it’s really hard not to be utterly amazing when doing it!
