plan of attack:  — 2 weeks ago

    1. Home- I am in the process of moving. While packing, I am going to sort things that I don’t use or need and donate them to charity. I want to eliminate all the useless stuff in my space. I also am working on some curtains and wall artwork, etc.

    2. Car- This is done. I just need to keep it up. My car is perfectly clean at the moment!

    3. Mind- I am worried about so many things. If I get my bills, school stuff, etc in order and keep it all in a folder, that should help. Also, I need to find an on-campus job, so I don’t have to worry about traveling back and forth to work.

    4. Life- I just think this encompasses all of the above.

I am working on all of this.

Oh, geez, was I feeling ambitious when I wrote this or WHAT?  — 1 year ago

Let’s get real. I can declutter my home (most of it), my car, my mind, OR my life. But I have to have somewhere to throw all the crap, and it tends to be one of the other three. You see the problem here, folks?

I clean the car, but put boxes of junk from the car in the house. I clean the house – and my closet – and put bags of stuff to donate into the car. Then, I have no room to go grocery shopping, so I start adding to the mental clutter with things like “Drop junk off at the Goodwill before running other errands, so there’s room to stick the groceries IN the car…” and then I just chuck it all and forget – I mean, I have to run by the video store and return the videos, but while I’m there, I see a new release that sounds like it’d be great with popcorn and a little couch time, so…

Oh, you know this one by heart already, don’t you? Maybe I should tackle my lazy-a$$ tendency to procrastinate and make excuses FIRST, eh?

Baby steps  — 1 year ago

It’s a good thing we have maid service once a week, or I wouldn’t be able to climb to my home office and find my PC.

    Here’s the plan:

I will declutter my home, my car, my mind, and my life. (Hey, had my car detailed when I quit smoking – some 22 days ago – and I spent several hours on New Year’s Eve decluttering my closet and filling the trunk of my car with over-large clothing to donate to a good cause! I’m already off to a great start on this one. Frankly, my mind’s still a mess, but I have 365 days to work on it.)

    - I will spend 15-20 minutes a day decluttering the house.
    - I will keep a trash bag in the car and use it.
    - I will declutter the car at the end of every trip.
    - I will really use that shiny new planner, daily! (My memory is great, but I do not rely on memory, alone.)
    - I will decline or decommit to projects that are unimportant or uninspiring.
    - I will practice self-hypnosis/meditation and deep breathing/relaxation before sleep.

I’m already off to a great start on this one. Really. No, frankly, my mind’s still a mess, but I have 365 days to work on it.
