Added Labels and Archived everything, just need to keep doing this regularly 7 years ago
I keep my inbox as clear as possible. Otherwise, it’d get out of control! 7 years ago
All I can say is that at times, organizing gmail’s enormous amount of space is a daunting task…especially if you get busy and let it pile up. Sometimes the best way to do it is on the opening page after you first log into your account. Check off any of the messages that you know you won’t need (like weather forecasts from last week, etc.), and move them into the trash folder. That usually clears quite a lot of space. I use a lot of labels and like them filed away in those labels, however I don’t always have time to do that, so I’ve created the “sort through later” label. If I haven’t read them, then I just check all the ones I want to go through later and use that label and archive them. Also, if you’re actually going to go through e-mail by e-mail and read the information…it really aggravates me that you can’t delete while going to the next message, so I’ve created a label called “Delete this!” and you can apply that label and go to the next message. When you’re through you can just check off all the boxes of the messages that are labelled “Delete this!” and move them to the trash folder. Those are the quick ways to do it if you just like a blank page with the most recent e-mails. However…I’ve started realizing that the search feature is the quickest way to find e-mails that I want to reference, and that kind of eliminates the urgent need to have everything in one individual folder. 8 years ago
Use labels with impunity. This makes anything old easily reference-able.
Also, if there is something that requires further action on your part, use stars.
After an item has been labelled or starred – archive it!!! 8 years ago
I’m starting to get ahead of this whole ordeal of not organizing. Problem is mail comes in as fast as I can organize it… however I have almost the entire page of 100 emails organized…. 8 years ago
just archive it all and if peeps ask just look in the archive. It even has search, people can just deal if u ask me. have them write a REAL letter if they wanted to be read for sure. 8 years ago
My inbox is overfilling. I’ve tried labels and sorting but it just gets so out of control. The search fixes it all but I really want to organize it. I’m ging to start organizing it again. 8 years ago
GMail has a feature that indicates if someone sent the mail to you directly, it’s shown like >>. I only read those mails. Should delete all the junk mails I get.. 8 years ago
