All I can say is that I need to work on this goal!
How to be a better flybaby
How I did it: I followed the flylday routines, but had to make some modifications so that I could get things done during the day. I checked the web site for information, and signed up for the daily e-mail reminders which had cleaning tips, and suggestions. I had to work at this goal, each day, and over time it became easier.
I set up zones in my house to clean, and each day I try to keep a little part of the zone clean. I like how this program helps me to get my house clean, and organized, and it helps me to organize other things in my life. At night I try to set out the clothes that I'm going to wear the next day, and it really acts as a time saver if I'm in a hurry.
Lessons & tips: The best lesson that I learned was to keep my kitchen sink clean! This lesson helped to keep me motivated to want to keep a clean house. Another useful lesson from this cleaning program is to have zones in the house that get cleaned regularly.
Resources: The flylady web site was a valuable tool in helping to keep a clean, and tidy home.

I’m managing to keep my sink clean. I try to give it a good shine before I get ready for bed.
My pantry is starting to look good! I love looking at it now. It doesn’t stress me out like it used to. I’m going to have to get some jars from the dollar store to organize a few things. I also organized my junk drawer, and cleared off the counter so that I have some free counter space.
This week ‘big tasks’ (big meaning that I had enough time to start, and complete them without any major interruptions).
Washed floors downstairs (old-school style- On my hands and knees. It takes longer to do, but it seems to look cleaner than if I use a mop, and bucket).
Cleaned fridge, and freezer. Washed the burners on the stove-top.
If I write about it here, then I’ll have a record of what I’ve been doing lately. One of these days, I’ll get caught up on the actual Fly-Lady routines… hopefully soon.
I think that it’s true that it takes 21 days to develop a habit, so that’s why I’m going to try to ease myself into my ‘cleaning routines’.
I love getting up in the morning to a clean sink!
It’s amazing how the glass jars have really freed up space in the pantry! I like how the pantry feels more organized, and I can see how much of an item I have.
Ever since I heard about certain plastics not being good for storing food, I’ve decided to switch to glass containers for food storage.
Last week, I organized my necklaces by pinning them to a corkboard. Since I’m a visual person, this helps me to see what I have to match with my outfit, and it also keeps my things organized, and in one place. I like being able to accessorize.
It really makes me feel good to have these things organized, and ready to go. I feel like I’m putting outfits together more, than just wearing sweats, or baggy maternity clothes around the house.
Next step will be to start wearing make up more often. I need to organize this.
I think that when things are organized, and easy to access that I’m more prone to be interested in doing these things.
There is a tv show called perfect housewife, and it’s a great show! Has some good tips on housekeeping.
I got my cookbooks organized on the shelf, and tried to group non-perishable foods together.
I put all of the spices together on a little wire shelf, and under the shelf I put cans of tomatoes, tomato paste, and mushrooms, because these are things that I use to make sauces, and soups.
Then I grouped together my cans of soups, and vegetables.
Baking goods went together, and then grains, and noodles together. It’s amazing how much space this created. I’m going to buy some containers to keep things looking neat, and then add labels.
I cleared out a drawer for my plastic baggies, and wraps (plastic, aluminium, parchment paper, wax paper, etc.)
I would really like to start working on this goal again. I know that I’m going to have to take baby steps, and we’re talking tiny, baby steps to get started.
Right now, it seems like most household chores are a huge effort for me. I never knew just how challenging it was going to be for me to take care of a newborn, take care of myself, and do some basic things around the house. I feel like it’s a major victory if I can do 2 loads of laundry in a day!!!
I think that the Flylady routines are really going to help me feel like I’m keeping things in order around the house, but at the same time, give me a little bit of free time to rest.
