I LOVE buying magazines. I just wish I also loved geting rid of them, too. I hate getting rid of inspirational/quality mags because I’m also worried I won’t retain some precious piece of wisdom that I’ll need in the future. However, they always just sit around until I get motivated to hack at them with some scissors and stuff them into a box (I eventually transcribe the good info in shorthand on my computer). I don’t know why I’m so anal about this, with all the information overload I experience on a daily basis finding advice isn’t that difficult. I just hate the idea of getting rid of my mags! Even if I’ve read them, I’ll convince myself I haven’t read them because I haven’t read EVERY article.

I have way too many magazines. I can never read them.I rarely do. Most magazines are shallow and are the reason society is the way it is. I only order them becuase my school offers prizes.

I subscribe to five different magazines and am lucky if I find time to read one a week. It’s a goal of mine to get in the habit of reading them so I can be more up on current events.

I’ve made an improvement in getting them read and thrown out, or at least thrown out. I just can’t keep up with the Smithsonians, which I love, but which take too much time. So that’s why I’m giving up. Other than those, I am doing better. But I know that magazines will always be streaming into my house, and will always be a part of my clutter problem. I’ll have to try to keep being as self-disciplined as I can about them, but having this goal here drags me down, so away it goes.

since I was sick as a dog, I had lots of time to read them. Got through a huge stack.

while on vacation, and threw away a bunch when I was choosing which to bring on vacation. So, some progress.
Then I came home, and found that I have somehow begun getting Preservation magazine. I have no idea how. Very weird. I don’t do anything professionally or personally that would make this make sense. And I didn’t get a bill. I am perplexed. Flummoxed. Baffled. Bewildered.
But, we have a magazine exchange basket at work, so maybe someone there will enjoy it!

JP Creighton rising to shine on a rainy cloudy May Sunday;waiting for coffee, here.
On Being a True Conservative,” in December 2005 Sun Magazine.
Highly recommended.
He makes a very good case for rethinking both environmentalism AND conservatism.

being sick and unable to do so much as sit upright (fever aches chills and painfully sore strep throat wiped me out for days) plus being too poor for cable and being intolerant of watching things over again (making my husband question why i believe in owning dvds) makes for a good scenario for reading & disposing of magazines. include a bunch of newspapers here. hurrah! far to go but progress is progress!
