I didn’t do it with my best friend’s sister’s friend’s friend’s brother, but.. I did climb a tree. With my friends. It was fun. I shall get round to taking that little boy at some point, but for now, I’ve finished with this goal (:

How I did it: I looked for trees with good climbing branches, meaning trees where I would be able to step up on one branch and reach another branch with my arms. I also looked for trees with sturdy branches. When I was young I loved to just sit at the very top of a tree and watch what was going on below me. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I climbed up the highest possible climbable tree (woosh - moth ful..) with the aid of a make shift ladder (plank of wood)and a little encouragement from my childish friend...Yiiii! Read how I did it…

How I did it: Make yourself forget that you've grown up, flex your childish muscles, be naughty and go for it! You can't believe how many memories a simple act like this can bring back...sweet childhood memories of torn pairs of jeans, good hiding places, sour apples you weren't supposed to eat, dropped lollipops, forgotten friends... Oh dear. The Big Tree Climbing company was holding a tree climbing day so I went along with two friends. You pulled yourself up by ropes but I couldn’t find the technique, and got frustrated, felt like I was going to burst into tears (I miscarried for the second time three months ago) and so gave up after two feet. So, goal not achieved today, but looking at the fact that 256 people wanting to climb a tree makes me realise I don’t have to do it by rope today. And that’s okay.

Tomorrow I’m going to climb a tree to the top with some tree surgeons. I’m worried that I will get half way up and think ‘Oh sh@t, what am I doing this for?’ or that I won’t have the strength to pull my own weight up. But I haven’t climbed a tree for so long, and I fancy being up above the ground, different perspective etc.

My friend Stan has recently started tree-climbing, after getting over the own-mortality-over-awareness issues that prevented me from climbing trees as a child. He has promised to take me to a tree he’s found which he considers the most excellent climbing tree in Bangor. We’re going to take a flask of tea up there with us. Hopefully we’ll be able to go before the end of the weekend…but Welsh weather…one never knows!

A few weeks ago my buddies and i were in newport and plannin on goin to the beach. we took the ripta over and realized that to get to the beach it would be a 30 min walk… so that was out the window cuz it wasn’t as nice as we thought it would be. We ended up walkin around for a while and then found a park with a big ass tree at the center of it. played some ultimate and threw a football and then i decided i wanted to climb the ba tree. I almost died comin down cuz one of my friends was throwin the frisbee at me, but other than that it was great haha
I once promised my best friend’s sister’s friend that I would take his best friend’s brother tree climbing. I didn’t know the person I promised this to at the time and I was just messing about. But I am friends with him now, so I think I am going to take him and his best friend’s little brother to climb a tree like I promised. :)

I was never a tree-climbing child. I preferred to sit in the roots of them, making up stories about whatever lived in the hollows of the trunk. I think I missed out on something. I will climb a tree this year.
I have had this goal 4 months and still haven’t found a frickin’ tree to climb.
I absolutely love challenges and adventures. Unfortunately I am one of the least brave people I know and, something that effects this particular goal, I can’t stand doing things involving sports or excercise. I’m not lazy really, just have no interest in any sports and am not very coordinated. My favorite (and pretty much only) kind of physical activities are spinning around in circles when it rains and running randomly when I have a burst of energy or am hyper. But I have this feeling that climbing a tree would be like those few things for me: I would love it, and always will. Now I just need to find a tree worth climbing… I’m still working on that.
