I was always up trees as a child from the age of about 7. I love the sensation of climbing as high as you possibly can and then clinging onto a thin branch at the top and swaying back and forth in the wind. I used to give my parents a heart attack!
I hadn’t been up a tree in while but a few years ago I revisited a childhood tree climbing spot and went back into a tree we used to call the ‘clockwork tree’ because you could climb it in a circle. As I clambered up it seemed much bigger than I remembered and then I realised that is because it has of course grown!!
It was brilliant to go back with my eldest daughter and I am looking forward to some tree climbing in the future with my youngest two!

I found out yesterday that my husband doesn’t like being up ladders, so I’ve painted our facia (fascia?) boards at the front and back of our house. It feels really high up, and I’m pleased with myself for being able to shin up the ladder quite quickly, even if I come down quite slowly.

271 people with such a simple goal! This is a surprise.

I used to love climbing trees when I was younger. I would just pick a comfortable branch and just sit there and take in all the sights. :)

I reserved a spot for the Tree Climbing Tour this weekend and my child and I arrived expecting to climb a tree. We got what we wanted. I loved it because my son really liked it and because we were able to eat a burrito on top – who would have taught that you could picnic in a tree. If only I had remembered to bring my water up there.
My son was scared to go up at first but he made it and then it took a while for him to get back down. We did some other things in the park where the trees are located and before we were to go we decided to climb the tree one more time and he almost did the up and down on his own. Just a little bit of coaxing from the Aunt and Mom.
He would do a lot of things well if he did them often enough.
So my whole issue with tree climbing is still there – there aren’t enough trees taken care of in a way that would allow humans to climb them. These particular kinds we were climbing are especially well made for it because they are flexible and strong. It was fun – I wonder what kind of tree it was and if I can plant one in my back yard!

I didn’t do it with my best friend’s sister’s friend’s friend’s brother, but.. I did climb a tree. With my friends. It was fun. I shall get round to taking that little boy at some point, but for now, I’ve finished with this goal (:

Oh dear. The Big Tree Climbing company was holding a tree climbing day so I went along with two friends. You pulled yourself up by ropes but I couldn’t find the technique, and got frustrated, felt like I was going to burst into tears (I miscarried for the second time three months ago) and so gave up after two feet. So, goal not achieved today, but looking at the fact that 256 people wanting to climb a tree makes me realise I don’t have to do it by rope today. And that’s okay.

Tomorrow I’m going to climb a tree to the top with some tree surgeons. I’m worried that I will get half way up and think ‘Oh sh@t, what am I doing this for?’ or that I won’t have the strength to pull my own weight up. But I haven’t climbed a tree for so long, and I fancy being up above the ground, different perspective etc.
