I went back to the program that I thought had a bug in it. Now I dont think it did, I think it was just me being stupid. But now the new glitch is that running the program makes my computer heat up. Tonight it actually turned off it got so hot, so I had to go back to my summer remedy of putting an ice pack underneath the back edge of it so the fan is off the ground and the back can stay cool.
So after playig a couple of games against the computer I now remember how to play chess. I want to become better at it though and maybe even beat the computer once or twice. I had downloaded winchess, but the program had a glitch or something in it because everytime my king was in check (not checkmate) it wouldnt let me make any move to save my king and considered the game lost. As far as I know, the king can capture chess pieces that are one square away as long as it doesnt put the kind in check-mate, but this game wouldnt allow that to happen. After playing for a couple of hours I became really frustrated, and am now looking for a better game to download.

i’ve worked it out quite a bit now. need to build up strategy now. thinking ahead is very very difficult, so many combinations of moves!!!
My dad taught me Chess when i was very little. I really like to play but since a few years it got boring (cause i kept winning;) – now i will either join a chessclub or go to a Chesscafé on a regular basis to meet better players…

it’s not a very complicated game, despite what people say.
(I’m not denying that there are depths, but the rules aren’t that complicated.)
It can be fun, but it can become an obsession as well – a waste of time, if you will. It certainly was for me at some times.
Now I’m wasting time with other games instead. Maybe I can find a way to play games AND work towards the goals that I’ve avoided while playing games…?
(If you’re looking for a good place to play chess free on the internet, try FICS – stands for FREE INTERNET CHESS SERVER.)

Well, I played chess and won 3 times in a row. But then I played some poker and lost all my chips :( You win some, you lose some.

Played until I beat my teacher then stopped, I went back to wild play, confused him and won a fluke :) but it was a win

chess is amazing. especially if, like me, you are intelligent enough to see the little patterns but utterly fail at seeing hte big picture. then it becomes just fun, instead of too much strategizing.
