Worth doing!

Why is it always the windiest night in January? Finally got it lit.
Said a word or two, and drove home. A beautiful – cold – evening.

Another year...  — 7 months ago

Worth doing!

It’s frickin’ cold out today, so even though I started it late it should be ready in time. Just a plain jane ice candle this year – no flowers or colours, it will be there tonight, flickering away beside his headstone, just the same.

Worth doing!

Another year has passed. I still miss my father, but I’m good with it now. I wish he could have seen my children. But, at the time he passed away, I wasn’t even pregnant. Ah well, it’s nice to have guardian angels, if you believe in that sort of thing. I’m not really sure of what I do or do not believe, but it’s certainly a very nice thought.
I left the candle in the snow, turned around to start my walk back to the car, and what a glorious sight the sky was. Just brilliant with stars. It’s a nice cold night here, and the moon is slim – I’ll have to check for northern lights later. More than half of the January 20th nights (prev. 6yrs), we’ve been able to see the Northern Lights. Neat, huh?

Started it just a while ago – it’s outside getting frozen. My husband picked up some flowers for me to include in it, some peruvian lilies (Alstroemeria), a nice rusty colour. Tomorrow night at this time, it should be lit, a soft glow in the little cemetery.

I’ve done this for the past 4 yrs, before that I just left flowers.
But I place this at his grave, and the candle burns through for hours.
