host dinner parties

I want to host the most fantastic dinner parties.. I want my home to have a really cool vibe.. artistic.. organic.. casual.. but still flashy and classic in some ways. I want to have really great art. I want for risque crazy things to happen at these dinner parties.. and for them to last well into the early mornings!! I will probably need to own a swimming pool. The food will be spicey, fantastic dishes.. very multicultural with a lot of vegan options. The guests will ALL be gorgeous and interesting and fabulous!!! I want to have houseguests too.

we had lauren and mark over for dinner a few weeks ago – i’m afraid i was a little bit overzealous pushing stephen to prepare things exactly to my liking – apparently i’m a crazy control freak who should not be allowed around adult humans. however, despite my freakout when i hit myself in the eye with the corner of the cabinet and the fact that they got to our house twenty minutes early, everything went smashingly and it’s so nice to be able to hang out at our house instead of going out all the time.

i just had two friends over for dinner, and i gave them the works: tablecloth, dessert, homemade bread, salad forks, the whole thing. oh my god, it was SUCH a blast to prepare for, and to see people eating my food, good god it was exciting.

i am spurred on by Miss Manners and her acerbic guide to living in a society without resembling an ape. soon i’ll make a list of people to invite and get that up and running.

I say throwing a great dinner party opens more doors than passing out business cards at events.
