spring cleaning

I’ve never been able to bring myself to do spring cleaning. I mean, if it needs cleaning, why wait ‘til spring, and if it doesn’t bug you, why bother just because it’s spring? But there’s no getting around that my house is in major need of a full-on scrubbing. If thinking of it as Spring Cleaning gets it done, then that’s what I’ll do.

last june i started the summer with a floor to ceiling massive scrub of our apartment. i felt it would start the season off right. i had planned the same thing for 2007. and it happened, just not the way i thought it would.

instead, john and i bought a house. and the past week has been sore on my face and hands, due to all the chemicals. but tomorrow signifies the last step. the professionals come in and tackle the carpet.

we cleaned out the cabinets, every nook and cranny. we washed all the dirt off the molding. we washed windows and counters. we killed the rodents and cleaned out their corpses. we painted three rooms. we raked up the fallen figs.

tomorrow, the place will be beautiful.
