How I did it: Just paid more than the monthly payment by various amounts between 50 and 150 dollars. Paid it off in 3 years instead of 5!I just made sure I could toss some extra cash at it, even though it doesn't always feel like it made a difference, over time I saved a few thousand dollars in interest alone. How I did it: I made the payments on time every month by using my bill pay. It some cases I paid a little extra. Five or 10 dollars extra may not sound like much, but it adds up. I also used my 2008 tax return to make the final payment. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I did the best I could to make my payments. When I got my tax refund, I decided to just pay it off so I wouldn't have to worry anymore! Deciding to make that last lump payment was hard, since there are a lot of things that I need to pay attention to, but it was necessary. At least now I won't have to worry about jumping up and checking the driveway every time I hear a truck outside - I know they're not coming for the car! Read how I did it…

I just called to find out the exact payoff amount for my car loan and received the best news! I’ve apparently paid enough extra on this loan over the years that instead of 5 more payments I actually have only one! I’m so pleased about this, especially since I don’t get paid for the next two months because I am off contract. I’m also really looking forward to focusing on paying off my 2 credit cards, focusing one the small one first. Then, there are student loans, but I’m not as concerned about those right now.

I love it! After five years of working my butt off I have a beautiful reward. Now I just have to pay for it, and I am going to try to pay it off two years earlier than my loan payments are set for.
Two payments down, and several to go before I own my perty’ blue baby free and clear. Yay!

I only paid $265.00 in April due to my aggressive saving towards vacation with my sister and my nephew in May and June. The current principal balance is now under $5,000. My goal is still to pay off my car by the end of the year, and I’ll go back to applying larger payments once the vacation is over.
Started at $4000 dollars in debt. I’m at $2500 now. Slowly but surely the numbers go down…

My March payments added up to $800.00. Not too bad given I only planned to pay $750.00. My goal for April is to pay only $500. My sister and my nephew are coming for a visit from another country, and I want to show them around…show them what a beautiful country we live in. That’ll require quite a bit of cash, and I’d rather pay less and save more than pay more on a low interest car loan and charge my credit card while they are visiting. Choices, choices…
After the 4 and a half years of looking forward to getting this done, I couldn’t even tell you exactly when it was that I mailed off the last check.
But, yes, my car is completely paid off. 6 months ahead of schedule. yay! And I don’t believe I was ever late on a single payment :).
Pic below is almost the exact same, except mine is blue and probably has a lot more dings on the front and back bumpers. LOL, the joys of living in a city.

I’ve made an extra effort and paid $930.00 in February. My principal balance is under $6,000 now and it feels really good. My goal for March is to pay $750.00. It is not as large as my February payment but it is still 3 times more than the usual amount that is taken out by the bank.
Go me! :)
