Yesterday I was listening to the BBC4 on the Internet~ 2 years ago

They have some very interesting programs compared to the things we get here in the States.

There was an interview with a Social Entreprenuer that I found exceptionally enlightening. He was the CEO of a company and was talking about his business philosophies which frankly matched mine.

He emphasized that we all spend so much time at work it is vitally important that everyone get along as real people and have fun along the way. Creative corporate policies – what will they think of next?

In a hiring interview he starts with an audition – he likes people with personality. Tell a joke, sing a song, relate a story, bring your art…whatever makes you who you are. Then he takes into consideration your “qualifications” for the position.

He doesn’t stop there – once hired there are some basic things you must do while in his employ:

1. say hello to 20 people before starting work each morning- creative ideas flow when people who work together actually know each other and have a relationship outside of work.

2. read 2 books, see 2 concerts, foreign films, etc a year outside of your major sphere of interest and share your discoveries with others you work with.

3. In company meetings you are required to give a speech as to why you like your job, what excites you about it, what your contributions to the company are, ect…if you have a problem what solution do you suggest?

4. prepare a meal for 20 people you work with – he called this winelight – getting to know your co-workers socially makes a more cohesive team at work…

He had more ideas but you get the picture. Something to consider while I am putting together my company policies. ;)

I love this concept of building a team 2 years ago

A Real Estate Attorney I worked with while I was living in Dallas has agreed to be my counsel and do the closings for my investment venture.

He has a mortgage brokerage and title office with a plant that searches title records for all of the adjoining counties in the DFW Metroplex plus Houston.
