I remember Six Flags was one of many “cool” things when I was in grade school. I had never visited one until recently. (I did go to this park before Six Flags bought it, when it was Marine World AfricaUSA. It was great!)
I was troubled by all the negative reviews of Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my experience was nothing like the reviews. Many, if not most, employees were friendly and enthusiastic, and contrastingly, no employees stood out in a negative way. The people who worked with the animals seemed very knowledgeable and caring – I think people have more of a problem with the fact that there are animals at the park, not with the way they are treated and housed, which seemed at least adequate to me. I took the technical difficulties on several rides as a sign of safety and good maintenance, rather than a lack thereof. Also, although there were ads here and there, the atmosphere did not seem too commercial or money-grabbing to me.
Anyway, I was amazed by my experience. My favorite rides were Medusa and Vertical Velocity. My second/third favorite was ROAR! The scariest was Kong. My least favorite was Tony Hawk’s Big Spin – a weird combo of scary and not-scary/tame. Cobra was very tame, but great for “practice”. I completely missed Boomerang Coast-to-Coaster – I saw no sign of it, strangely and sadly.
The next Six Flags park on my agenda is Magic Mountain! I can’t wait – too bad I have no idea when I can go!

and it was awesome. Greg, Nicole, Marissa, and I went on 9/1/08. it was sooo much fun. =D
It was hot and humid. Lots and lots of people. other than those two factors i had fun. the lines werent really all that long. rode superman 3x and there was no line. I hate roller coasters but i must say it was an adventure. went to twistys down the street at the end of the day. would i d it again? yes. except i would have worn sunblock and shorts instead of pants.
Eva830 is so happy look at my face!
live about an hour away from Magic Mountain and it is a blast! There really is something for everyone there!
Alaythia is slowly settling in
I’ve been to Six Flags Over Texas several times in my life. A word of advice to anyone who might be headed there: don’t ride the evil Texas Giant. They don’t make many wooden roller coasters for a reason! That ride isn’t fun, it’s just plain painful. Do your spinal column a favor and skip it. : )
Cassiopeia I keep making these to-do lists, but nothing gets crossed out xoxo
there’s nothing better on a hot summer day than six flags over georgia!!
Been to Six Flags In Valencia California more times than I can count. I love that place..Unrelated to Six flags itself, It seems every time I have gone its been a ritual to go to Hamburger Hamlet down the street and eat after a long day at the park. Good Times!
JadedForever just is.
It was fun at the time.
Been a few times & enjoyed it.
But I really don’t ride roller coasters anymore.
Glad I went though.
I had actually bought my season pass in March/April, whenever they were having their promotion, but I never got a chance to use it. But in September, I finally decided that I must go to Six Flags Magic Mountain before it was too late. So I went.. twice. And then I left the country (oh, my precious season pass, it only got two uses!). But it was amazing. I LOVE Tatsu—it is so relaxing! And Dejavu had me laughing the whole time. I heart Six Flags. It was definitely worth it.
