Spanish 2 months ago

Right now I’m learning Spanish as part of an elective in my high school. I’m wondering if I should splurge in a Rosetta Stone program for the language of German or French.

last summer i made a few friends from russia that were in wisconsin for the summer. they all learned to speak and write english very well, so i figured i would take the initiative to meet em half way and learn their language. its so different! i dont speak it fluently yet, but i can understand alot of what they say and i can speak a little. its a beautiful language!

Still at it 1 year ago

I am still doing the tutor thing. Yesterday’s session sucked- just wasn’t clicking for me. He sent me a ton of things I could read so I really need to do that at least once a day! One article each day would be good. I must be improving but some days I feel like I am taking two steps back.

SoAm + tutor = good things 2 years ago

I started going to a tutor who is from Spain about 2 months ago. RIght now I am going once per week but I might increase that now that winter is around the corner. I enjoy doing it and hoping I will be able to keep my Spanish. I say “keep” b/c I went to Argentina a couple weeks ago. The first two days were VERY frustrating but something hit me on day 3 and since then I felt rather fluent. I don’t completely understand everything inside out but I was very happy at how easily I was able to communicate and get around. It was most evident in Lima where it seemed no one knew a word of English! Funny sidenote: I asked a woman for directions and it turned out she only spoke the local Indian language. So I guess I can’t always win! ;)
