I know, upon looking at this goal it seems as if it is a one-man (woman in this case) show. The real reason I had the goal stated this way is that I want to be involved in the whole process. That and there just aren’t any good, deep roles for women my age out there. and, if it’s something, it’s usually “the girl next door,” “the girlfriend,” “the mom” or some other flat role that a guy (sorry guys) wrote, but was scared to get in too deep. It was probably for your own good, though – women can drive a man to true madness… ;) Seriously, though – there are a few movies out there with great roles for women, but I just want to be a part of making it more common and more acceptable for a woman to be the main protagonist. Wow – went of on the deep end there.
The real reason for this post is that the Nashville Screenwriters Conference is coming up and I thought since I have no idea about the nuts and bolts of screenwriting, it might be a nice conference to attend; very informative at the least. People from Big Love and The L Word are going to be there. Even though I love the shows, that’s another thing: women roles don’t have to be abundant because someone has 3 wives or because a bunch of women on a set make up a lesbian show, though I love watching both!!!!! Just my thoughts. I think I would have a decent shot at writing something deep and thoughtful made by a woman (and not some girly girl) for a woman. Cheesy, yes. A good possibility for something amazing: who knows. But I’ve got ideas crammed in my head and I can’t wait to get them organized on paper. :D I think the conference is a good idea. Only thing is, I can only think of guys that would be interested to bring with me… :( Sadness. Girls, girls. We gotta represent.
