How to overcome panic disorder
How I did it: I started having panic attacks nearly everyday for about five months and had severe paranoia as well. The time that I was panicking was one of the worst experiences of my entire life. Most paranoia and panic attacks are brought on by depression and I am still trying to fit the pieces together now that my mind is cleared of the impending doom of the disorder. Having panic disorder was also one of the most empowering experiences of my life so far. It has taught me not to take myself so seriously and that I do have some control over my life but only over me and my actions. For the longest time I thought I was dying and I had the biggest fear of death at any moment. I thought I was going to suffer from a heart attack at the age of sixteen and I was in and out of the doctor trying to find out what was wrong with me, when it was really all a battle of depression and my lack of expressing my emotions inside of myself. The day I realized I was more than my disorder was the proudest moment of my life to date. I was in class and I felt an attack comming on and I immediately went to the bathroom to avoid making a scene. In the bathroom I talked to myself in the mirror and told myself that I was being rediculous and that I had so much control, even more than I thought I did. I listed mental notes of all the things that I can control, including my mind and even the disorder. I talked myself out of the panic attack and have been able to do so from that day on. Overcomming this disorder is different for everyone and no two people can go about beating it in the same way. It is possible to over come panic disorder and it is possible to live a normal life after the disorder has been eliminated. If anyone needs help at all, feel free to message me and comment back!
