Write a true first chapter

It’s only seven pages right now, and I know it needs a lot of fixing. But I’m just going to leave it sit right now while I continue on with writing. The first chapter, if it ends up really being that, can just be let alone right now… and I trust that I will see it more clearly when I look at it again.

This is part of my goal to write a novel, and yet this seems so much less intimidating. I’m not asking to write a chapter that is good or entertaining or brilliant or witty. All I want is to write something true in that way one can feel without being able to explain.
