The First Day

There are a few of my goals that link to eachother…and when I am working on some goals they help with others. This is one of them. By “eating more healthy” I am also helping to achieve my “losing weight” goal. As I eat more healthy I am also encouraging myself to exercise a bit more. One is feeding another…and another…so to speak.
Today was a success because I didn’t go mad on the food. I began with a ham salad roll for breakfast….went on to have a chicken caeser salad for dinner…with sliced honey dew melon…and (unfortunately) 2 packets of crisps. Later, at home, I had a cheese and ham toasted sandwich. Whilst the crisps are a bit of a let-down…it is still a good day for me. I resisted the usual KFC or McDonalds. My job involves being on the road a lot (driving) and I do find it easy and convenient to use the fast-food joints. I snack a lot, too. Crisps and chocolate are regular impulse buys at the service-station and corner-shop. It is these things I need to address. Fizzy drinks are to be avoided too…though I’m pretty good with them anyway (usually plumping for an Oasis or still Lucozade Sport) I’ll keep you posted

healthy eating would be alot easier for me if i didn’t live in a shared house….my boyfriend and i have been spending hundreds of dollars on food for the house and no body else buys any so we always go out to eat, instead of supporting everyone else!!

My problem is that I have such a hectic schedule that I am always eating on the run. I work 3 part time jobs, go to school full time, and take care of a family, so when I am running between class or work I stop and grab anything that I can eat on the run. Most of the times I eat fast food and I am sick of it.

and bought a bunch of apples. I now have, in my fridge, one of every kind the store offered. It’s a start.

I seriously need to get back into cooking. For awhile in college, and right after, I was a good little vegetarian health nut and did a lot of cooking. I totally lost the habit, though… now I’m eating meat again and never really learned to cook it well… and the rest of my cooking skills are pretty rusty, too- where they aren’t nonexistent completely!
Thankfully, I’ve been learning some basics the last few weeks…

I think what’s more important to me than loosing weight is being healthy. Part of becoming healthy is changing my eating-habits.

balehead is counting down for quitting my job! (4 months)
Well, it’s not the complete ideal way to go but I have been doing a low carb diet. I am not counting carbs or anything but am eating more fruits & veggies, even though there are carbs in them. I’ve lost over 10 lbs so far as well.

I’m not buying anymore junk. If I don’t buy it, I can’t eat it. I’m doing better with this, but it’s really hard. I’m feeling better though. Your body feels run down when you eat processed food and sweets. I am feeling better, but I have a long way to go. I guess that doesn’t sound optimistic. I am going to try to be more optimistic about this.
