Well, spent almost 3 hours in a craft store this past Sunday, and I think I have most of the basic supplies that I would need to begin this. In looking over all of my jewelry, there’s not a lot of items that I don’t think that I could make myself. Some of them require some intricate wirework which will probably take time and (ack!) patience, but I’m really excited to get started. A lot of instructions are online too. I took some of the prettier beads and strung them into an abstract, bright elastic bracelet already, but I’ll probably eventually cut it and use the beads for something else as I go along. Still, I have enjoyed wearing it the past couple of days!

I’ve realized that I can satisfy both my creative impulses and my fetish for jewelry by designing and making my own. I’ve been searching the web, and some basic techniques look pretty simple, while others are more complicated, so this could be something to occupy me for quite awhile. I plan on going to a couple of local craft stores for supplies, as well as ordering some more specialty items online. So far, the sites www.hhhenterprises.com and http://www.agrainofsand.com look promising. I’m really excited about this and wish I had more time to spend on it right now.
