be a youth pastor

I am on staff part time at my church..i am mainly in charge of the jr high youth. The reason i say im doing this….kinda is because im starting the group and I have no idea what im doing! It is by the grace of God it has been a good thing at all!! If anyone has any advice id love to hear it! Thanks! Pray for me!

SO I’m a softmore in high school and I plan to be a youth pastor when I get out. I’ve known that I want to dedicate my life to Christ since I was 12. Recently I’ve been thinking alot about this. I want to be a youth pastor because I think it’s best to get youth involved in Christ so they can serve him their entire life and be able to avoid some of the troubles they’d have to endure without him. But man, right now in high school, the kids around me really bother me. Most of them don’t think of anything but themselves, they don’t even think that there could be something more important than girls. Or, they’re real church kids and just accept everything thats fed to them.

This is where i want to change things. I went to a christian concert last night. In was in one of those mega churches. You know, fits 50,000 people, has million dollar light and sound systems. The band came up, played their music, did a sermon I’ve heard a billion times, and it was over. And it all just seemed so trite and fake to me. I mean, I know that they are living their lives for Christ and that they are doing what they think is right. But it just seems to me that youth groups, and the christian body is so shallow nowadays. That we could be doing so much morw tih our splendor. Am i the only one who thinks this?
