Create a "special" space

I have no money, so I laid claim to an old desk in our house and made it into Me Central, at least until I can afford something better. I am SO happy to finally have a home for (most) of my crafty stuff, if not all of it. Check this one off my list!

for my craft desk! I should be able to find one for around a hundred bucks. It’s nice to have something to look forward to having. I am really going to enjoy having this space just for me.

I am on the hunt for a really big, pretty, inspiring, dreamy piece of art to hang on the wall in my special corner. I had the perfect picture at one time, but it got ruined. It was a huge puzzle, a Renaissance-style painting with a woman dozing in the center with smaller pictures and patterns surrounding her and the word “DREAM” over her head. It was perfect. Then my son spilled a Coke on the pieces while I was working on it and I had to pitch the whole thing. I wish I could find another one just like it, but I haven’t seen it since.

I’m going to buy a craft desk. Once I have it, I will carve a niche somewhere in this little house and make it my own.

When I was very young, not more than 5 or 6 years old, I was visiting some friends of our family. Wandering around the house, I found a little room, almost so small that it was non-functional. It was just large enough to sit in. It had a window and a beaded curtain over the doorway. A chair sat by the window and the room was comfortably filled with a collection of china dolls. It was just precious and so beautifully useless, there was no other purpose for it, I guess, except to house the mother’s doll collection and bring her happiness. I only caught a small glimpse of it before one of the boys shooed me out. I immediately realized this was one of those “special” places and ever since, I have wanted one of my own.

A whole room would be nice, but a corner or nook with a desk and some artwork would do just fine. I need some place that is all mine, and no one else’s.

I don’t think I’ll ever feel my ankles again…

I need to create a comfortable space to do nothing, think, read, meditate, etc…
