How I did it: We work together on it, usually. I think that the majority of our date nights tend to be to the same places but that's ok. We both work long hours and sometimes the brain gets a little bit too addled to do anything other than revisit places. Really try to make time to do it. I find not saying "We will have X date nights per month" really helps because then it could easily become a chore. Spontaneous, or maybe planned a day or two ahead, date nights are the best!
P.S: I say this took 2 years because it is ongoing and that's how long we have been together! Read how I did it… 2 months ago

We have always had date nights. We ‘dated’ a lot when we first got to know each other. Then, when we were official, the date nights kept going. Date nights, for us, are not the same as going away over night. They usually consist of a meal out or a trip to the cinema. They’re fabulous! 2 months ago

Last week we went to costa coffee on a lunch date – lunch dates definately seem to be starting to be our thing! I really love the vanilla lattes from the one close to us, and its in a little bookshop so it was really nice! We just chatted and caught up.
At the weekend we went to our local cafe and, since it was the first sunny warm day of the year, the OH brought me an ice cream! I felt like a kid again and got chocolate all around my mouth – felt like we’d only been together a few weeks again. We walked back home and he acted like it was a first date, holding my hand all nervous and leaning in for a kiss. So romantic!! We definately need to do things like this more often!
I’d like to do more cheap dates, but so many are weather dependent and the weather here is still pretty cold. We’ll see :) Just enjoying it tbh as it goes! 2 months ago

We went to the woods where my husband hunts the other day, and it was wonderful. Just him and I. We rode the 4 wheeler, practiced shooting, had a picnic. We do a decent amount of stuff together but it’s usually either us at home, cooking and watching tv, or us out to lunch or dinner with friends and family. That being said, it was really nice because this was just the two of us. It was fun. Hope to do something again soon. It builds our relationship and makes it stronger. Although we’ve kept on with our home dates (despite my lack of entries), we hadn’t been able to carve out any real one-on-one, out of the house date time for… years now.
We’ve polished ourselves and had lovely fancy dinners out on the town compliments of M.’s Christmas work party the last couple of years, but not alone, and we felt like Cinderella was looking over our shoulders due to my parents (who were watching the kids) necessity to turn into pumpkins before midnight. In fact in 2011 my parents ended up getting food poisoning at the last minute and a very dear friend came to the rescue for our annual dinner out (bless her!).
This past Sunday we (drumroll) managed to go see a grown-up movie in the theater for the first time since 2010 (had to scroll back quite a bit here for the last time). We dropped the kids off with their grandparents and went to see Django Unchained and a nearby theater there in White Rock. Popcorn! Dr. Pepper! Twizzlers! Three hours of big-screen Tarantino-y goodness without riding a remote in case little eyes wander in the room. Wheeee! And the kids were a dream for my folks – definitely a win-win-win. We’ll have to do this again. Not in two years either. Maybe we can even squeeze in a dinner next time.
In the meantime we can get back to our good old home dates (and in mid-February, romantic Sunday Night Zombies) after the kids are asleep… we’ll take what we can get! 3 months ago

We went out for the wife’s birthday. Showing up on a Saturday night at Outback Steakhouse, we were told it was a fifty minute wait. Instead we went to the Thai restaurant. It was better anyway. 4 months ago

We are trying to make Thursday nights our regular date nights. Most weeks we end up sitting at home watching tv but last Thursday we actually went out haha.
We went to have some beers and deep dish pizza at Unos then hit the theater to see The House at the End of the Street.
We had a great night, got to talk at dinner and enjoyed the movie a lot. 7 months ago

I had planned to go take some pictures of downtown for a few hours but it was so windy I got my husband who just finished working and off we went to a new little restaurant called “Sweet “T’s” on main. It was so good! We had a wonderful lunch date just the two of us. It was nice to have him all to myself. ;-) 13 months ago

Is not happening. If anything we all are having to be here to help out. Sometimes not only do I feel like I am missing out on life. I feel like the old ones have taken over mine. 13 months ago

is a good long hike in the woods, probably near one of the bigger reservoirs near Lawrence to work up an appetite. Then dinner at Free State. 13 months ago

it’s dinner and a movie for us. Going to see “The Artist” finally. Dinner will probably be at Noodles & Company, one of our favorite inexpensive chain restaurants. Am really looking forward to it. 14 months ago
