Date Night Catch Up, Again! 10/27/09 and 11/03/09 4 days ago

Last week my husband worked late, so we stayed in reading a book that I got. It’s called, 1001 Ways to Be Romantic. There are some really great ideas we’re excited to use!
Tonight is Date Night again! My husband is almost home from work, and we plan on going out to eat, renting a movie, and maybe something else…? We are trying to be creative and thrify, but sometimes it’s hard when you have a lot of other things on your mind too. But, this is why we read that book last week. No excuses!
I am going to do some research now. He just called, and he’s getting overtime tonight. It’s time to get creative and think of something awesome for him!

Fun! We’re also doing our annual RHPS for Halloween!

    Worth doing 1 week ago

Married in ‘77 but we didn’t start having a regular date night till sometime in the early 90’s but have been going strong every since. When we had lots of dough, we would have exciting dates every week with fancy restaurants, broadway shows, concerts and clubbing. But in recent years our dates have been more about sunsets at the beach, picnics in the park, burgers in the backyard or just enjoying each other and a toasty fire.

Date Night Catch Up 10/13/09 and 10/21/09 2 weeks ago

I haven’t got a chance to be on 43things lately because things have been a little hectic around here… but I am so glad to report that we have still have stayed strong to our weekly date night! :) Last Tuesday my husband let me choose what to do so we went to Pottery Hollow- one of my favorite places. Pottery Hollow is an art store in which you pick out a ceramic piece you love, and paint it in any style you choose with all the paint, stamps, and toold available! When finished, it’s put into a kiln and ready to be picked up about a week later!
This week, on Wednesday, I let Walter choose (kind of). He had been talking for weeks about the Wolverine movie, so I cooked dinner and ordered it on our DirecTV and got plenty of pillows and blankets and such to snuggle with. :)
Date Night will be coming again Wednesday the 28th, and hopefully it will something Halloween-related!

Date Night Tonight! 10/06/09 4 weeks ago

My husband and I have been running around for two weeks straight, and just need a minute to calm down and be together. We just ordered Chinese, and we are ready for a night of pajamas, playing the Wii, snuggling, and reading our books together! I’m super excited! Sometimes the laid-back dates are so much more needed, the getting dressed up and having a “real” date. :)

The Beginning of Keeping Track of Date Nights 4 weeks ago

My huabnd and I try to have a Date Night every Wednesday… but he had to work out-of-town for awhile, and then he got sick… now our Bible Study is thinking of moving to Wednesday nights. So, my husband and I are going to have to think of another night or another way to do our weekly date nights. I like the idea of tracking them and writing down what we did. That will help us be more dedicated, fun, and creative I think!

    Late dates 1 month ago

I haven’t kept proper tabs on this goal lately, but we’ve continued to grab alone time whenever we can swing it (despite someone’s recent somewhat disparaging and uninformed comment to the contrary, although I bit my tongue at the time).

This summer we’ve had to be more creative, as the majority of our kiddo watchers have been out of town, and we’ve had moving madness as of late, but since my last entry we’ve managed to catch some great live shows, a few films, had some lovely meals alone, even pulled our first all nighter at a fancy hotel. I don’t sneeze at the obscure late night movies curled up on the couch, star gazing or sneaky kisses by our proposal tree either.

Friday we capped Markus’ week off (which was supposed to be utilized for a family camping trip but got sucked up by the straw of moving house instead) by using Isak’s pre-school hours for a delicious brunch in a little jukebox garnished café and wandering Main street hand in hand, poking about in whatever little shops struck our fancy. Casual. Wonderful.

I look forward to our family and friends’ return which will allow us more grown up time alone, but my real goal isn’t to ‘ditch the kid and go for dinner and a movie’, it’s to keep our connection polished, and I think we’re doing a fine job. Yup.
