I’ve been practicing for about 1 hour every day, and even though it was a strugle at the start, the lessons become easier after the arms and fingers stopped hurtin’ so much from wanting to play more and more.
I’m no Angus Young, and as much as I would like to be one day, I reckon life is more enjoyable learning a musical instrument I had no idea how to play before.
Persistance was definitely a key, as well as passion to want to achieve another goal in my life. I love the idea of expressing myself musically, even if it means not singing and tying chords together to make a song sound good.
I started at home with a book, not through a teacher and find it easier to take time to go through the book from start to finish and back again until I memorise every chord.
For others wanting to try, lend yourself to the idea of achieving this goal because YOU WANT TO!
I bought a classical guitar, a 6 string. (Yes it’s accoustic).
I was shown how to hold it, how to pick, and strum.. handed a book and told read this.
looks down at the book he just pulled off of the shelf...
Solo Guitar Playing 1 … a complete course of instruction in the techniques of guitar performance.. Third Edition.. Frederick M. Node… dramatic pause Book One.
This is starting to appear to be a daunting, almost herculean task… maybe I need to refine my goal to… “play a well known melody on a guitar.” smile
Good luck to me!
