We did about half of our grocery shopping this afternoon. We didn’t buy any goods that were processed in a factory with milk, dairy. Had to give up some things we are used to getting, but it’s really no big loss. 6 years ago

Brought my own lunch to work and ate with some others at the Art Institute. Oh, how I wanted something sweet… 6 years ago
I passed on an offer of chocolate this afternoon and a York peppermint patty after dinner. Feel great about turning those away! 6 years ago
once you get started, then it’s for the long haul. I can’t imagine how you could be vegan or live easily with a dietary allergy/intolerance when you have you and your partner to feed. My dad is gluten intolerant and I know it’s tough for my mom. I am lucky. Alex is totally on board with this and is suddenly very determined to be vegan for life. He even mentioned how he would like to volunteer at a an animal rescue farm. Once his mind is on something, it’s for good. We went grocery shopping yesterday and resorted to buying one bag of vegan cookies, though we quickly decided that won’t happen again. Better off baking our own. The sugar-thing is a little bizarre and I guess the best thing would be to avoid sugar. I do that for the most part anyways. 6 years ago
with some Valentine’s cookies that I am sure weren’t vegan.

so far. No craving for honey or anything like that. My choices at work were limited Monday and Tuesday. Today was awesome, though. Vegan curry sweet potato soup, some edamame, cucumber/tomato salad, olives, orange and grapefruit slices. I know, it’s a bit of an odd combination, but we’re spoiled! 6 years ago
now dairy-free, it’s the honey thing that’s still kicking me in the ass. For the sake of this goal, I am going to avoid honey this week and then mark it finished. 6 years ago
and it wasn’t that difficult. I opted for a rice/bean/guacamole mix instead. I have a severe sweet tooth, however. Is there a link between giving up dairy and craving sweets? 6 years ago
in 2 weeks. That was the toughest thing for me. One day last week at school I asked for potatoes and discovered they had shreds of parmasean on them. I didn’t take them off. Other than that it was a dairy-free week. I am not so sure about how to approach honey. I just don’t think I want to give that up. So maybe this week my goal will be no cheese, milk, eggs, etc. I am finished with fish – haven’t had that for weeks. That’s no longer an issue. Going without cheese is turning out to be easier than I thought. It’s just that damn honey. I also really like choc chips in my homemade trail mix and they aren’t dairy-free. I should check on that. Anyhoo… 6 years ago
later than tomorrow. Alex says he wants to take on this challenge together. How exciting is that! We are going to choose to not buy any more non-vegan food and when we finish eating what we have we will be on our way. I will take note when we begin. 6 years ago
