Dear XXXXXX and XXXXXX,
Hereby I would like to cancel my permanent membership of the Amsterdam Office Gym.
The facilities are great and I was an active member troughout the winter, but I feel that I am not using the gym regularly enough to justify the monthly payment and would prefer to pay per day of use.
Thank you for a confirmation of this and of course for your time.
With kind regards,

I haven’t been in the gym for like two and a half months, and I am paying money to subsidise other people’s workout.
So I will de-activate my subscription and only pay when do I go, which is cheaper unless I go more than 8 times a month.
maybe I’ll go again in the winter?

That gives me a realistic perspective.
5 weeks ago, my hip joint started acting up (I wrote this about it).
Now that I know what’s wrong with it, it has stopped. Hooray.
And now I’ve lost my locker keys (see The bike incident), so yesterday, our company building maintenance guy has drilled my padlock and freed my belongings from the locker.
Now, they’re at home. Great. So finally, I have everything (except a bike to go home with) to start over in the gym.
I will try to go twice next week.
It’s time that I go again. I feel like I am as big as a house.

Clocked up 40 minutes on the cross trainer and 2 k on the rowing machine. Unfortunatly, both were cancelled out by a portion of sweet ribs with chips and whiskey sauce.

...I went, saw and conquered the cross trainer (2.45 miles in 37 minutes) and the rowing machine (2km under ten minutes).
Calories, eat this!!!

The week before last, I’ve been twice, and last week once.
What I do at the moment is using the cross trainer on a low tempo to have a heart rate of about 125bpm.
I use that machine for 35 minutes. Afterwards, I use the rowing machine and so far, I have rowed first 2 km, then the next time 5 km, and the last time 2 km again.
I also do exercises if it tickles my fancy, like abs (not you, Abi!) and thighs exercises.

I had lost my get-up-and-go.
Ifound it again on Monday, and have run 3 miles on the cross trainer Monday and today. After that, the trainer Diana has given me exercises for my thighs and belly.
Today, I had to step up on two steps on top of each other, approximately half a meter high. That was hard!
Those 3 and a half weeks I didn’t go to the gym I added an extra roll of belly and a lot of what Germans call “hip gold”. I feel I look awful. Clothes that fit 6 weeks ago are tight now. T-shirts roll up that didn’t use to to this. If I went to the beach right now, Greenpeace would try to carefully roll me back into the sea. White whales are very rare. ;o)

...since I wrote an entry on this goal.
Mainly, because I am going regularly, when I am not sick or have the day off. Which was three times during the last month.
So I missed like 4 out of 8 trainings, but I am now back on track.
The hard thing is to adopt different eating habits which will match my efforts to get in shape and get rid of the extra baggage. Which is DOING MY HEAD IN.
At least I think I am on the good track here…

Not even the trainer can explain why, 2 1/2 months after starting to do sport twice a week, my weight has gone up by 2 kilogramms, and my body fat percentage has gone up 2%.
I weighed myself again, twice, before and after the training, just to make sure that all measurements were taken under the same circumstances, no socks, same clothes, ect.
This is really weird.
