holy crap this makes me sore. i’ve been lazy today and yesterday, and i feel bad, but will would just tell me the only consequence is to not get better. i just need to ration my energy out during the day so i have enough by the end of it to do five sets of ten of the five angles with both the right and left hand, fifty female trianges, fifty female trianges, one set of ten combined for both the left, right, male and female, two sets of twenty-five of punching, ten sets of three kicks, twenty pushups, ten situps and at least ten minutes of the heaven’s six practice. this cut on my foot isn’t making it easier, but my kali sticks finally came in, so i have a little more motivation.
go escrima!

if you ever have the chance to train with master ricketts – google him. you should take it, he’s back in the states now, and an amazing and skilling teacher.

I trained kali for about two years. I was an awesome martial art, but took me a while to get accustomed to, as alot of the drills, siniwali for example, require you to be VERY ambidextrous.

i’m the only one posting in the subject so just wanted to say keep at it. when you first start you feel stupid and its an overload, breath, don’t worry about it and just keep training, it may seem like you can’t get it, and in the beginning you may be like what the heck am i doing, but over time ( a pretty short time compared to most martial arts) you’ll start to get it, everything will start to come together, and you’ll be ready to start sparring. some people wonder how long it takes : 3-6 months i would say. in my first month of kali i was decent, (for a 1 month guy) , heck i even faught in a tournament – 4th place because of my great coach (had nothing to do with me) and now at 6 i’m about to fight my next tournament this weekend (wish me luck).
so like the title says stick with it, it gets better – if not a little easier, and always work the basics all the fancy stuff you see isn’t fancy its just the basics practiced to perfection

well after being out of town for almost a month i finally was able to come back to training, all i can say is woah, that month off did somehting, yes i still trained on my own, but i’m come back better than i left, and my guro actually taught me some new knife drills. it’s amasing to think about where i was just 6 months ago. my guro even told my after my last fight that he wished he could show me a video of me then and me now.
