write and illustrate children's books

I’m an artist with the ability to connect with munchkins of all ages. Whether I like it or not, they like me. They come to me. Want to talk to me. Watch me. Do what I do.

Sometimes I want to run away and hide, but I think it’s a blessing. For some reason I can remember all too well what I felt like as a child. So, I can relate pretty well with them.

I am inspired daily to write stories, based on kids I know. I have the plot and even what the characters would look like in my head. The adventures they would have and the moral of the story. Yet it never makes it onto paper.

Maybe it’s because I’m too busy painting or drawing other things, or sculpting or knitting. I have to create stuff. I have to.

I just wish I could make time to write and illustrate one children’s book.

I wear a bracelet that says “I think I can, I think I can.” it refers to this particular goal. I have wanted to be an author and illustrator since I was a little girl.
I’ve been working on developing my portfolio and my style for a few years now. This past year I focused much of my life towards this goal. I began submitting illustration samples and manuscript/dummy projects. I have had positive rejection in the past year and encouragement from a few publishers as well as some authors and illustrators I respect. There are lots of ups and downs but I have the can do spirit. I also just know that there is no way I “can’t” do this. It is too much a part of who I am and what I love to do.
