There will be a day that we will have no longer the use of our bibles. Memorize the scriptures and keep them in your heart and let the Holy Ghost lead you.

Last December, I memorized the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7) after being challenged to do so by a Bible study leader. Wow!! Memorizing the words of Jesus have had a HUGE impact on my life! I was already familiar with much of the Sermon on the Mount, but now those words are hidden in my heart. And very often, I find myself in situations of my own or with my kids, in which the Holy Spirit reminds me of these chapters. It has really inspired me to learn more! I’m thinking of doing some of Philippians next.

i suck at memorizing things and i don’t even know where to begin.
Which method / which translation?

Which method are you using to learn? Flash cards? Writing the verse over and over? Quizzes with friends? Computer software? I’m thinking about using a flashcard program on my computer.
Which translation are you learning? I don’t read KJV, but it’s the easiest to memorize. So.. I’m not sure which translation to dedicate my studies to learning…

is it bad that i mostly want to do this just so that i don’t look dumb in front of christians that show off all the scripture they know?
