I’m a bit young, but one day I will do this.
How I did it: Booked online for an afternoon 3pm trip. Check out the website. The whole climb experience takes around 2.5 hours. One of the "must-do" experiences in Sydney!

These days it’s easy – just book with bridgeclimb. Quite expensive but worth it. My wife took me for our anniversary.

I’m in Sydney… I’ve been in Sydney since the 8th of September and I’ve still not done it!!
Granted I have to wait till my friends boyfriend comes out so we can all do it together… awh… but still.. Damn it! I’m sick of waiting! Ha!
Even though I’m shit scared of heights.], I’ve got to do it. As well it has to be done doesn’t it!
Part of my fascination with Australia involves climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge. I’ve always wanted to do it. I’d ideally like to do 2 climbs, a dawn and twilight one.

We flew out to Sydney on Saturday (Dec. 1). Got in at 9.30am, checked into our hotel and then we decided to go straight to BridgeClimb because I had doubts whether I had the right shoes (and thought I may have to go and buy some new sneakers). We got there at 11.15am and the BridgeClimb girl said that she could bump us up to the 11.45am climb rather than us waiting till 1.15pm. So we said yes.
We grabbed a quick bite to eat at their Cafe, went to the bathroom and then we got called in. The first half an hour of the 3 1/2 hour adventure was spent “training” and making sure you had everything covered. We attached EVERY SINGLE THING to our suits (I loved the hankie the best – it came in handy up the Bridge).
Our Climb Leader was an Irish man named Ronan. He was HILARIOUS! Made the climb really fun and because I was right behind him (he called me his Co-Leader), we kept asking him questions. It was fantastic.
The climb itself was not too bad tiring-wise. Even though it’s now Monday morning and my calves are killing me, it is more my fault than the Bridge’s complexity. There were some narrow ladders to climb and go down on (my legs were shaking quite a bit on the way down) and some narrow bits but the arch climb was spacious and we did enough stops (thanks mainly to all the photo taking) along the way for it to be do-able. I’m just unfit that’s why my muscles are making me pay now.
For me, the climb was not about seeing Sydney from the top. It was more for the fact that I wanted to experience what it was like to climb the bridge – my favourite bridge in the world (so far). I was in awe of the sights but I was more in awe of the bridge!
Thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone. To at least do it once. I don’t plan to walk it again – unlike some folks who have done it more than 3 times. Once is enough :)

I think we’re going to book (yeah, we haven’t quite booked it just yet) for a Day Walk next Sunday.
So excited!

December 1, 2007 is THE date for this climb!

The Bridgeclimb is AMAZING! We went yesterday. The rain cleared up, but even so it was still pretty cold.
The whole thing took about 3 and a half hours. We started out up the bridge just in time to watch the sun setting over the city, which was magical. By the time we reached the top it was dark, the lights were on all over the city and it was just beautiful.
I went with my lovely sister, and we had such a great time. I definitely want to go again, next time at dawn I think!
I reccomend this to EVERYONE!
