Slowly but surely right?? I’ve completed a few more classes since I’ve posted and I now have just a few to go.

How I did it: I actually started working toward a bachelors after I graduated high school, but after two miserable months at a university I realized it wasn't for me. I went back to the house I grew up in and went to community college for my AA in liberal arts, while working fulltime, which worked out really well for me as I now have an actual savings account, filled with real money with which I intend to make big, important purchases. How I did it: I was close enough in credits to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I took classes that benefited me in the workplace and worked with a guidance counselor to help me find a degree with classes that I would enjoy. This made it much easier to accomplish. I ended up combining IT and Electronic Imaging for a degree in "Professional Studies". Who cares what it reads, I learned from it and I received a good education. Read how I did it…

I want to get my Associates Degree (ADN) and become an RN. I don’t know how to go about doing this though, because I do not know what schools offer and Associates Degree in Nursing. Can anybody help me out with any suggestions? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

My initial plan was to get my one year certificate in practical nursing. I got into the program and everything and I thought it was what I wanted. Classes started up and I found myself bored and apathetic towards the coursework. Many times I felt my heart wasn’t in it. But I tried trucking along anyway. Each nursing student had to pass a math test to stay in the program. I was close, but I did not get the 80. Looking back I have always struggled in math, it takes a lot more effort on my part than say, english and writing, which comes naturally to me. I have decided to get my associate’s degree to transfer over. I’m not sure on a specific major yet, but a part of me feels like it should be english/spanish and education. I have always felt that deep within my heart I want to HELP people, make a difference in their lives, so that is my new plan for now. I know it will take a lot of perseverance but I will get through this.

I’m pretty sure I’ve taken all of the classes I need. Now I just need to complete the paperwork.

I graduated High School in 2007 and so far i’ve only taken one semester of college. I’ve lived in several places since High School and met a lot of people, but still i feel as though i don’t have much to show for it because i haven’t completed a degree program yet. Don’t get me wrong, i’m happy with all of the experiences that i’ve had in the meantime, but i still feel a little unaccomplished without that piece of paper. I’m trying to get into school as we speak, but financial aid is holding me up a bit (amongst other things) and it’s a little frustrating.
I’m only a few classes away from obtaining my Associate’s degree. I’ve been putting it off so long, but I’m determined to get these basic courses out of the way so that I can begin pursuing my major and begin taking classes that I want to take.
ambermott is wondering what to do?
I have been in the Navy for five years and never took advantage of the free college courses that were available. Now that I am out of the Navy I don’t know where to start or what I want to do. I need some encouragement.

Thanks to a stupid mistake on my part I get to spend a full EXTRA year at my community college. Apparently, sometime during my first semester, I failed to take a very important prerequisite for my later CCNA classes. This kind of sucks, considering I was totally ignorant to the registration process at this time.
The good news is I will only HAVE to take a couple classes each semester which will leave me with more free time to think, get fit, and maybe take electives. Since I have no choice, I’m going to try my best to enjoy the rest of college.

I went to work straight out of high school, and in September 2008 enrolled for my Associates degree in Liberal Arts. With the heavy course load I am taking now, I should finish by December 2009! I can’t wait to finish it so I can go on with my major in Computer Security.
